What category of music does DDR music fall under exactly? I mean, I would say songs like DXY, Sandstorm, .59, Burning Heat and such would be classified as 'techno.' But songs like Moonlight Shadow, Look to the Sky, Take me away, Drifting Away, and Heaven would fall under 'Trance.'

But what about songs like Destiny, Dive, Candy, Still in my Heart, Broken my heart, Can't stop fallin' in love, Max 300 and MaxX Unlimited?

I don't know what actual genre DDR songs would fall under, but some of them are given genre names that sound made up when they jump over to Beatmania IIDX. For example, Destiny, as well as a lot of Naoki's other songs like Still in My Heart, Can't Stop Falling in Love etc. fall under the genre of "Hyper Eurobeat," whatever that is, in IIDX. Songs like B4U and Dynamite Rave are categorized as "Speed Rave." If these genres aren't made up, I wouldn't know how to prove it as searching for "Speed Rave" brings up a lot of results related to Bemani, with a few results mentioning Raves and the drug speed. "Hyper Eurobeat" brings up nothing but Bemani results as it's already a song in DDREX.

Max 300 avoids this, however. I believe it's categorized as "Hardcore Techno," which is another name for the genre known as "Gabber." Maxx Unlimited I would assume fall under the same genre, but it's never been in a IIDX game to my knowledge so I'm not sure.

On a side note, things get even stranger in the Pop'n Music series where you have genres such as "Izumo," "Airport," "Istanbeats," "Latin Enka" (?!), "Ergos" (or maybe "Elgos"), and "Window Guitar." E19.gif

Isn't asking too general of a question? Isn't that like asking what ganre American music falls under, seeing as that DDR music tries to fill a variety of ganres?

You can't say that all DDR music fits in to one specific style. That makes no sense.

Friend: What kind of music do you listen to?
Me: Usually DDR type
Friend: WTF!!! You just made that up! frust.gif
Me: You know, it means Dance Dance Revolution. (sigh) The corny dancing game I play.
Friend: E19.gif Man, SCREW YOU!!!
Me: Whatever disgust.gif

If you ask me, it's way to late (or early) for DDR music to fall under its own catagory.
To me, it's mainly just trance, techno, tribal, and J-POP.E4.gif

We mustn't forget that Sakura's official genre is "Spirit" and Don't Stop's genre is "Happy Handbag," according to IIDX. ^^
