I am literally dripping with sweat after playing like four heavy songs (and I'm not even talking about 10-footers here) in DDR. Not tired at all and I'm a regular Heavy player. But I'll look around the arcade or at other people who have played more than me and they won't even break a sweat. People almost always comment about the amount that I sweat or give me funny looks.
I'm 6'3" and 160 lbs (in other words, a stick), so I'm not overweight by any means. I have thought about consulting my doctor, but I want to know if other people sweat this easily. It's not that I mind terribly when I play at home, but it seems to bug other people (like when I sit down in a chair after playing and start dripping on it ) and I can never go over to other people's houses and play even Light mode (about 6 Light songs and I'll make puddles ) |

Hey that's the same thing that happens to me. I sweat like MAD when I play DDR. No idea why really. I never get tired but sweat everywhere. That's why you bring a towel I'm 6'4" 150lbs btw. It's normal as far as I'm concerned. _________________

Yeah, I bring a towel AND a bandana AND a headband (AND occasionally a wristband), but I just keep sweating like a faucet for about 15 minutes or so Oh well, nice to know I'm not alone, I suppose |

Yup, that sounds about right. Can't really do snything about it unless you can get the arcade to install a really good fan or something next to the machine, which I've been pushing for a while. Sweating that much can be dangerous if you know what I mean. Playing a 10 footer then SLIP and fall in a table or something because of the droplets of sweat on the buttons. _________________

Yeah, I think the two arcades I visit regularly had one set up during the non-Winter months. I should ask them if they wouldn't mind running it year-round. They know me... and they know how much a sweat... |

I sweat easier at the arcade but i also sweat noticably less than I would at home. (if that was understandable I'll be amazed) I think it's due to my house being a f'n oven half the time. With playing DDR tho I sweat quite a bit. My girlfriend complains that I push myself too hard when the truth is that i just get hot easy. I wouldnt say this is completely normal but I wouldnt say that It's something particularly unhealthy but i'm only 15 so I'm far from qualified to give a solid statement about how normal or healthy your sweating level is. Try talking to a doctor about it if you are concerned _________________

I have the same problem when it comes to sweating, I mean before I started playing DDR I never had sweated so bad in anything I did...It gets so bad I bring an extra shirt with me...
I think it healthy though as long as you keep hydrated, Sweating is just a sign that your body working hard and using a lot of calories... _________________

No it's not abnormal, it's just in your genes. Same goes for me, I tend to sweat to death when I play. |

Really? I think this behavior might be unusual. I have to play about 15 heavy songs before I start breaking a sweat. _________________

I usually don't sweat a lot playin' DDR.
Only when I play a lot of 10 footers (like Sakura and PARANOiA Survivor, multiple times). _________________

If you tell your doctor that you sweat when you exercise, he'll smack you. It's perfectly normal. |

I'd be more worried, personally, if you WEREN'T sweating after playing DDR for any length of time. Sweat is the body's way of cooling off. The moisture that comes out of your pores also carries heat away from the body. I sweat a lot playing DDR, too, and I don't play 10 footers either. Even at home, by the time I'm done I can feel it on my face and stuff. |

Sounds like you are just out of shape... A towel will work wonders though. |

Sweating has nothing to do with the condition you're in. |

Good point, Slowpoke. And with the amount I play, there's no way I'm not in shape. And I always bring a towel (and a bandana, headband, and wristband)... but maybe I should just bring several, since one towel will be drenched and useless in under an hour.
And just to reiterate: it's not so much just "sweating" or "feeling sweaty." I'm talking about (a) literally being able to take off your shirt and wring sweat out of it (done that many times ) and (b) sweating so much that you're making (hazardous) puddles on the dance surface - in a short amount of time. |

I think it just has to do with genetics and environment. _________________

Just as long as you don't smell when you're sweating then you're normal. I really sweat after I play World Tour. |

I live in Alabama and my arcade is hot as hell so I rain when I play. _________________
