does anyone know where i can get a 9 panel pad so i can play pump+ddr on stepmania? metal would be nice.

Winnar.

AFAIK, there is no other metal pad capable of being used for both PIU and DDR. The primary problem is that while you could move sensors around, the control hardware wouldn't map the buttons properly. Plus, you'd have to move sensors around each time you switched back and forth.

So, yeah. CF it is.
