When I try to change my username from what it is now to "Zero" (minus quotes) I keep getting the error that it's already taken. But it's not. I asked Sherlock about it, but he's baffled. Any help here?

Someone else had a similar problem. I think he just had to choose a different name. _________________

It was all Caps? No wonder it didn't show up when I looked for it.

The name should be allowable, but it's not. |
Yes, and what I'm saying is that last time this happened we couldn't figure out what was wrong with it. No one had the name. No one had anything like the name. We didn't disallow any part of the name, or any characters with in it. There was no known explanation for why he couldn't switch to that name. So he had to pick a different one.
And oh yeah, I hate how the search is case sensitive. _________________

Upgrade to 2.0.11 and I think the case sensitivity goes away.

That's a pretty major change for a minor version number. I'd be willing to bet that 2.0.11 just fixes a couple of the case-sensitivity issues that I just patched myself today (primarily having to do with PMs). _________________

Dunno if that's the same thing though.
More info here.

Apparently we've already backported the changes in 2.0.4, as I don't experience that bug.
No, I believe that particular bug refers to functions_validate.php or profile.php improperly comparing the old username to the new username and determining that they're the same even though they're different. _________________

It's Hebrew. Yeah, I know it's a bunch of code when I'm quoted, but I probably won't keep it for too long. Or maybe I will. If I can think of a better name/avatar/sig combo then I'll switch it.
Speaking of which I need to get a new avatar/banner. _________________

That's why we need UTF-8!!! :shades:
By the way, what is it? The only Hebrew letter I can read is aleph, and I don't see it. |
I don't know if PHP's string functions are fully compatible with non-western charsets. They would report erroneous results when the string consisted of multibyte char codes, etc. This is based on what I heard months ago so there's a good chance that this has been long fixed with PHP5, but I'm not about to take any chances until I know for sure. |
