|
|
What's going on fellas!
Hope this isn't in the wrong place... but I have a simfile that I'd love to enjoy... only it itsn't working right! It's for Stepmania.
Works in Dance with Intensity, but not SM. The song reads the arrows ridiculously fast and choppy, and the song itself is sped up to the point where it doesn't sound the way it should...
Anyone know what I could look for/alter that will solve the problem?
Also, I would link to the file itself, but I think that's against the rules.... |

Your simfile is probably presented in DWI format. Stepmania doesn't always read DWI's very well. I am afraid you are stuck with using Dance With Intesity for this simfile, unless somebody has made the same file specifically for Stepmania. |

Damn. I appreciate the reply.
Is there anyway I can convert it myself? Or does a program that converts them exist...?
Thanks again! (And Happy Thanksgiving! ) |

Does the song have a ton of BPM changes? If not, there is a bootleg answer.
1) Get X-Step.
2) Get the 'un-official' DWI to *.XSTEP converter.
3) Convert the .DWI to .XSTEP
4) Take the converted .XSTEP and export it as a .DWI
5) Open StepMania
6) Go to the editor
7) Edit the steps (Heavy or whatever) and don't touch anything, then hit Escape then go down to Save.
8) Save the simfile, exit SM and restart
9) Try the song
10) If none of the above works, play it on DWI. _________________

Hmm, Try opening it up in the simfile editor in stepmania. Save it.
that should make a DWI and SM file in that song folder, thus, making it work! _________________

Thanks for the tips.
I can't play it on DWI b/c for some odd reason it runs like CRAP on my system! (While StepMania is running PERFECTLY!)
I tried the xstep prog, but everytime I try to load the .xstep file I created I get an error:
Runtime Error "9"
Subscript out of range.
Again, I appreciate the help... any ideas? Can I link to the file, or no...? What's odd is that there are two versions of this song and BOTH share the same problem...
It's the only incompatability I've ever had, too... |

try getting the new version of SM. they fixed a lot of arrors. i used to have song problems where when i highlighted it on the selection screen, the program would crash. i got the version called StepMania 3.9 rc2a It works perfectly. u can get it from www.stepmania.com . if it doesn't work, then you're going to have to rewrite the file by yourself since your x-step doesn't work. pm me if you want to know how to make a file w/o x-step, but be prepared for a lot of hardwork... _________________
