pads arn't working

ya i just got 2 new pads for xbox. One pad wasn't registering when you would hit the back arrow. Actually when you stepped on say the right arrow and kept the foot there then with the other foot tried to hit the back arrow, it didn't respond. And now with my other pad its doin the same thing but on the opposite side. Am i just not pushing down correcting? in the right spot? not hard enough? Does it register better on a harder surface? I have a piece of wood under it. So i'm not sure. I would greatly appreciate it if someone could help. thanz

you should take a look at the Bemani controllers and hardware forum... you'd be amazed by the quantity of info there
