|
|
I've been noticing a lot of problems with a few ad banners performing a auto-reload on the page. It's not interfering with data entry (thankfully), but in the case of a broken ad banner, it causes a popup in Moz which immediately shifts focus to that tab or window. When it's a timed refresh, I could have a tab opened in another window and be reading something and I'd have to switch back to it every 30 seconds or so.
The "Break The Toy" and "Ultra Bronze Max Tan" ads are part of it - it looks like it's a general Yahoo! ad (one banner is for Yahoo! HotJobs), but in order to increase their exposure, they're switching ads every so often. _________________

I noticed today that the Freak was refreshing in another tab. It didn't bother me, but I didn't remember it ever having auto-refreshed before. Hey, it just did it then. |

yes this is only annoying to me because sometimes I'll get a popup saying "this document contains no data" or something lik ethat. With as many tabs as I have open there is practically always a tab that is refreshing. _________________

I could honestly care less about the auto refresh ad's, but, the "This Document Contains No Data" and "Can not connect to *instert website here*" Pop up things are really annoying, especially if I'm on a different website or even a different program. _________________

If you want to blacklist the offending domains:
127.0.0.1 cjt1.net
127.0.0.1 bns1.net
It just got to be too much for me to handle. It was driving me crazy. _________________

No. Even though I'm not having that hard of a time with it, I'm getting the auto-refresh on IE. _________________

You need to append those lines Cutriss gave to your HOSTS file
http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm
That site will tell you where is it on your computer. Open it in a text editor and add those lines on the end of the file and save the file. |

As a note - I'm still getting the problem even though I added those to my hosts file. I might run the adbanner IFRAME in a separate window to see if I can't pin it down.
Edit: Add cydoor.com.
Edit^2: Even that didn't fix it. I think the problem is actually with the Flash rotater code that the adhost has moved to using. >.> _________________

I use a program called eDexter and http://accs-net.com/hosts/get_hosts.html to block banner ads and the like.

I'm getting this problem, too. It really only happens to me when I click on "Post reply" and when the next page loads, a box will pop-up saying "This document has no data." It's not getting in the way, it's just annoying.
I'm using Firefox, by the way. Blocking all the ads didn't help =/ _________________

Nobody answered my question, but in any case, I have reported it to the ad people. Hopefully it will be resolved soon. _________________

To answer it further, it auto-refreshes in Opera too, but with no error message. _________________
