I just got in a DDR turf battle today. I'm starting to get better than this guy who plays at the game room at my school. He's kind of the top DDR player there. Anyway, he "challenged" me today, I guess. I don't really care, I don't like competing with other people, just myself. Has this happened to anyone else?

I once went to the arcade and got served by a guy that failed Cartoon Heroes and Max 300. This was last year though...

never really a turf battle, but there have been disputes about who is the best player at my school. if you care(which you should try not to), set up a tournament or something and settle it. no sense in carrying animosity toward one another. its just a game, and dont stress over it.

Everyone here is too laid back to worry about that kind of stuff. We actually kind of encourage each other, even if we are in other gangs. Like, I am the best person in my crew, which is'n't saying much (I can only pass up to a few 9-Footers with A-Ranking...), but the guys that are like, mad good always urge us on, give us the little motivating thing, you know? Maybe once we step up our abilities, they'll feel threatened, and a West Side Story dance fight'll break out, but until then, we'll see...

DDR turf wars? Sounds like a bad premise for an HBO sitcom...

If you have "turf" wars over DDR machines, reconsider how much of your life you've dedicated to this game.

That's what I was thinking, but the guy was like, challenging me. Jeez, I don't care. I was under the impression that video games were for having fun, but that might be just me...

...and then Yasu and Take came in out of nowhere. "This is our machine," they said. And I said (in perfectly fluent Japanese, of course), "no it aint, dawg."
They laughed, but I laughed inwardly, knowing they had no clue what was in store for them. They got on the machine and played a game Max 300->MaxX->LoM. They AAAd it but they sounded all loud and stompy. Well, me and Eyebrowsoffire got up on the machine, and totally ownzored them by putting all those same songs on Oni AND free-styling.
Yasu and Take started cring and just sort of trudged out of the arcade, only pausing to say, "Fine, you can have this arcade. But the war isn't over!"
I was all like E7.gif .

Well, in the international rules of serving.. If you serve someone.. and they serve you back.. IH SAWN. Thats when you have the dance off.. But -- the DJ must drop it like its hot (courtesy of You Got Served) But yeah, I'm the best at my school hands down, which isn't saying much seeing as not many people play at the arcade i go to. So there aren't really turf wars in PA because we aren't really ghetto here even though I live near Reading -- which is one of the most ... uh, crimiinalized cities.. but I'd be afeared to get into a dance off cuz im t3h sux0rz

But it was then that I stepped in and said, "None of those songs have Oni, and it's near physically impossible to freestyle to those considering the speed."

These people obviously haven't seen our machine exploding skills... And as for the Oni steps, the machine made them up for us on the fly. They were 18 footers.
