Hard Plastic Pad: Product Link N/A
MSRP: N/A (~$50 on eBay)
Product Description: N/A
This is a 3rd party pad sold on eBay and other small Internet shops. No manufacturer is listed, so I'm taking the specs/details from one of the random sellers on eBay:
This is a Hard Arcade Style Pad made from hard plastic and it lights up when the arrows are stepped on. It weighs about 20 pounds and is 1.25" thick. This is a heavy duty pad designed for extreme play and will give you years of pleasure!
Latest 2004 full 6 button special design for PS2 and PS1 Version 5.0 - Beware of other sellers 4 button pads, when newer dance games come out your will be sorry if you don't have all 6 buttons like this top quality pad supports.
The new PlayStation DDR Deluxe V 5.0 Hard Arcade dance pad combines the best features of hard pads and soft pads to take your DDR experience to the next level. Arcade sized circuitry and technology for arcade level scores.
Noise reduction mod lets you hear the songs while you dance away. You'll hear nothing but the sound of DDR music and your busy feet. Our noise reduction mod will let you hear the music loud and clear without blasting your TV volume past 10.
Hard Plastic Dance Dance Revolution dance pads are, especially, made for dancing interaction with all Dance Dance Revolution (DDR) games.
Fully compatible with the Dance Dance Revolution Konamix, Bust a Move 2 & Britney's Dance Beat.
Tighter buttons lead to faster reaction and better scores. Your feet will feel the buttons react faster after our mod. Much better than any other 3rd party plastic hard pad you've ever tried. Why settle for a standard hard pad. Go a step further with the modded BNS USA hard pad. Your ears will hear the improvement. Your feet will feel the improvement. No other 3rd party hard pad experience comes even close.
The new pad is rock solid, it will eliminate stress from your feet and let you play Konami DDR (Dance Dance Revolution 1 and 2) in comfort for hours at a time. _________________

This pad looks very poorly made and looks like it's just hard, but will break easily if you play a lot of Heavy songs on the thing. _________________

I've seen these at a couple anime conventions. Here's what I noticed:
They are loud. Those arn't just round depressions, they make "clacking" noises like huge buttons.
They break easily. Unlike metal or ignition style pads that can take some weight for various reasons, this plastic has very low durability and cracks were all over the ones at the convention.
They're pretty bad, though. _________________

Totally sums it up - my friend's cousins have one and they are terrible. They are definately a step down from just taping a $5 pad to the ground. They move around like mad because they dont really weigh anything like a metal pad does. |

Wow, they still sell these junky all-plastic pads? I saw a review of these a couple years ago when they first came out that pretty much tore them apart. Apparently they've fixed none of the problems they have as people are mentioning all the same flaws I remember from before. I think they cost about twice as much back then, too. o_O |

I believe Topway, I got two of them, and it appears that they broke in the mail, none of the buttons register anything. |

i actually owned 2 of these pads and i learned how to play heavy on them. they come very responsive and quiet, but after play the foam cushions underneath each button get worn and then things get noisy. they slid around on carpet easily and doing doubles was fun until you try to get to the next pad and it's not there, it's across the room. ahah.
After a year or so they both broke and it wasnt worth trying to fix em.
they were fun for awhile, but metal pads are the way to go. |

This was my first pad. I wanted to get something better than a thin plastic pad but not as expensive as a metal pad since I wasn't sure how "into" the game I'd get.
You can easily beat heavy songs on this, but getting lots of perfects is another story. You have to train yourself for the slight delay in respnce.
Naturally I would NEVER recomend this pad to anyone. But it isn't as bad as some people say and it is better than a thin plastic pad. |

This was my first pad, I remember buying this same one (identical down to every detail on that picture) from RedOctane. Sure it was loud, but it took over half a year for it to break, so it didn't really bother me much. |

Yeah, we had 2 of these at my house too, after the crazzappy madcatz soft pads we bought to learn the game on broke withing a few weeks. They were a definate step up from the madcatz.
They are loud, not very precise, they do slide around alot, and I would not try anything over a 6 footer on them, and once they break, they would be very difficult to fix, but they wouldn't be all that bad for an uncoordinated preteen who sticks to light or beginner mode, and that doesn't weigh more than say 120 lbs. Other than that, they are great
So, while I wouldn't reccommend them to anyone, they were better than some soft pads, and they lasted through about 4 months of intense abuse. |
