You mean, something like AIJ has?

However, all that does is bring you a Java version of IRC in the AIJ IRC Channel.

That's the point. For those who don't want to use/learn to use mIRC or any other IRC client, just use the Java chat that does all the work for you.

Wait, wait, wait. Are you sure you want to speak to people too stupid to figure out IRC over IRC?

Radix, you of all people I thought would know that the /ignore command works quite well in those situations. E1.gif

I'd rather not see IRC be limited to just the few users "in the know" to be honest with you. The channel is quite fun when it's active, especially with the right crowd in there. Adding more people, no matter the intelligence level, will only add to it.

Plus, you'd be surprised at how a room with a lot of knowledgable people will cut down on the stupid things that other people say in the room.

How do you know the bright ones are going to outnumber the... others.

I wouldn't mind an applet since I can't get into IRC over the uni proxy. However, it does say quite clearly on the chat page that you can use mIRC or Ircle, and it doesn't take a genius to figure those out, even if you aren't familiar with all the commands.

Edit:
*cough* I forgot that it'll use the same port anyway.

How hard is it to figure out how to use Xchat, mIRC, or any of the other hundreds of IRC clients?

Perhaps people don't chat because a) people are busy b) people aren't around to chat c) people on IRC don't revolve around your schedule.

Often times people go into #ddrfreak for 5 seconds, all like HELLO? NE BODY THERE?!?! WELL frick YOU GUYS /quit, and then be like oh IRC sucks, nobody talks.

Not to mention how many people that would go there thinking they'd be talking about DDR (can't understand *why*), and then they'd get all pissed off when people would start mocking them and calling them n00bs.

It's like the quantum singularity which would destroy the known universe, if we were to suddenly combine Random Chat and DDR Chit-Chat...

We hardly talk about DDR in the channel anymore, really. ;x Then again, I can't remember a time when it was always the topic of discussion.

We spend more time talking about how monty is gangsta than anything else.

Oh, you'd love the math class I teach. Except that it's not pre-emptive enough, since these people are still getting into college.

becasue they don tlike how IRC works or they cant get it to run for whatever reason (maybe htey lack install privilages or the ports are blocked for IRC)

it honestly wouldnt be that hard to do as its already very common

plus the address is apparently hidden deep in the recesses of the hidden temple of the blind crocodile god offlar

Am I too much of a Phillistine to suggest an AIM chat room? Most people already have it, and for those who don't, it's easy to learn how to use.

No method of moderation in AIM chat rooms, sadly.

Well, you could always have an unmodded chat room. If it gets horribly stupid in it, then the smart people will for the most part stay out of it. Put a big sing on the frint that says "ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK!"

...and possibly "Shirt and Shoes required, panties optional"....
