my tx-1000 isn't working quite right can anyone help me

my tx-1000 isn't working quite right can anyone help me? when i hold down the bottom arrow the top arrow doesn't repond and when i hold down the left arrow the right doesn't respond. I am using stepmania. I know that stepmania and the ps2 to usb adapter i have, have worked in the past so i'm guessing that it's the control box or the ddr pad if anyone could help like give me step by step direction to fix it or somthing that'd be great. thanx
