Don't go too low tho, or you'll start to enter the realm of one-month-wonder pads.

Hey DDRHomepad estimates his pad to be $135 (assuming inflation hasn't skyrocketed since 2002), and the pad you end up with is near indestructible, you could give it a try!

I built my homepad and so far it's cost me over $200 and I'm not quite finished, but I used Riptide's design instead of DDRHomepad so who knows? biggrin.gif

so what you are saying is that if i buy an inexpensive pad, it will have its chances on breaking EVEN IF IT IS METAL!!!!! frust.gif
the reason i come to a metal pad and franticlly try to save money for it is that iv had bad experiences with regular ol' plastic dance pads. *ahem* my first one came with DDR ExTREME (i bought the box happy.gif) so it was a good pad...very good actually. so anyway my 7 year old mofo brother gets pissed at me and scrambles the wires of the pad...he breaks the control soccet, then removes each wire (im sure it still works tho, jus need to find the right wire combination, which'll take forever o_o)

so i go to bestbuy, and purchase the cheapest ddr pad, a $50 pad...it was a universal dance pad. i also noticed an Ignition Dance Pad that sells for $60, but im too cheap =P (later on ill regret this) so i play the universal dance pad (made by datel disgust.gif ) and it sucks...every time u press the arrow, you assume its a perfect but it turns out to be a good or almost. so im guessing this dance pad has poor censors.

so i frustratly go to www.ddrgame.com and buy yet another cheap dance pad...the regular ones which cost $9.99 (+ s&h). it arrives, i play, its fine BUT...it was the ones that EASILY slipped...-_-; i endured it though. eventually it came to a point when the right arrow breaks. so right now im pissed, i have to play wit the sucky universal dance pad...

so lemme start this over, u say a metal pad, thats cheap, may break jus as good as my previous pads?

Every 'cheap' pad will have it's limits and do require some sort of maintenance eventually. Non-metal pads just wear out a lot faster than a metal one would. On the plus side, metal pads can maintained a lot easier through modding. Just don't expect a pad that will last forever without doing any work if you try and get a cheap one.

I really doubt you could find one without using eBay that costs under $100. If you did, it would probably break fairly quickly.

or what you could do is just save up for a CF. I have never heard any problems with them, dont have to mod them, and they just look cool. i almost have enuff tro finally get one (like 20.00 bucks short) and then i will be a very happy boy, that is until i get LSDJ or Beatmania, or GH2

Ha ha! I just followed DDPHomepads directions to the letter! You would be surprised how easy it is to build, most of the guys here build some uber ones with lights and micro-switches! But yeah when I first saw the instructions I pretty much had the same reaction as you!

I drew those arrows myself - wanted to give the pad some kind of original touch. But everyone else uses the normal looking graphics, which can be downloaded from just about everywhere.

So got any ideas which pad you wanna buy yet?

for $299.99 this is my 2nd priority. if i somehow get a lot of money out of nowhere, i.e. luck (i dnt work) then this one is my choice
