ive always used one hand to play stepmania with fingers ive been able to pass PSMO but thats like the limit and im seeing all these impossible simfiles whcih have been done and finnaly saw my friend playing with 2 hands and that was the first time using 2 hands ever occured to me. i was just wondering if most people use 2 since ive been seeing most people do. im startign to learn but using 2 hands only seem helpful if i start to go for the hard fast simfiles but i do better with one hand on songs that arent like with 16th jackhammers and the sort.

hm, well I think I've maxed out my ability to play songs with one hand. I haven't learned a two hand method yet, though I know most people use just their index fingers. I can pass M and get an A on era grand blue outset mix just fine, and I've got all the official songs either black flagged or AAAed with a one hand method. I'm not sure I care enough to learn how to play with two.

Well if you want to be really good, learn to play 2 handed. Its also more comfortable when you want to play faster songs.

If you don't care, stick with 1 hand.

that's what I was getting at...though one hand is perfectly comfortable with me...I'm a pianist and a trumpet player, so it is natural E13.gif

I use 2 hands reguardless of the fact that I play Piano,Guitar, and trumpet. :-/. I guess it's your preferance from when you started playing. I play with two hands on the traditional arrow keys. I go back and forth between using both index fingers, when I'm doing quick back and forth streams (I.E. Left,Right,Left,Right 16th notes). Or using my first and middle finger of both hands when I do quick streams with alot of changing, or MA'ing.

Well me and sync were introduced to SM by someone who plays with one hand and uses speed mods so thats what I do. I'm not nearly as good as Sync but have passed Max 300 and PS. If I would actually practice I wouldn't have a problem with the other 10's. Since I don't play that often I will probably never learn how to play with two hands but who knows.

i use two hands on the original arrow keys, and i only use my index finger on my left hand and on my right i mostly use my index, but i sometimes use my middle finger for triple jumps(3 on a line) or some insane double steppi..er..tapping

I tend to use two hands, but I find if I'm playing anything with a lot of crossovers (which is pretty much only official songs), I do A LOT better with one hand. For those who play with two hands, do you actually crossover your hands, or effectively "double-step" crossovers?

I was a one hand user until last week. There is a very painfully clear limit with one hand when it comes to keyboard only songs. With one hand, I was able to AAA all the official "real" 10-footers, and pass a song like M Heavy(yea with one hand laugh.gif).

and then I tried things like M Oni, ASb(by reach), Mindblowin'(by reach), Gravity, Cynic, and ect...and I got brutally raped....yea

and so I adopted two hands. I put my left hand index and middle finger over F and B, and right middle+fourth finger over I and L, and it's left, down, up, right respectively

as soon as I got used to it, I passed all the songs I just mentioned above

meh, I can pass M oni one handed, but to me once you get to the keyboard only steps that are just a stream of crazy fast notes I think the game loses its originality. I much prefer keyboard only steps that are complicated in the sense of having technical and tricky rhythms that follow the music very clearly over ones that are nothing but eighth notes at 400bpm or whatever (M is one of the few exceptions because it actually does follow the music).

so I guess I suck, but whatever...we'll see some fun simfiles that will be interesting to both one handed and two handed players when I start uploading them to BS E13.gif

One handed, every mode. (Single, Double, Pump you name it) I find myself to be fairly good.

o_O;

sarcasm that borders on insanity...gotta love it XD

I've just about given up on playing with a keyboard now, it's boring to me. pad play all the way now. (though yes, I prefer to use two feet thank you very much E13.gif)

I started out with one hand, but I started playing faster songs and now I use two for most ten footers and over. With two hands I can AA Max300 on 1.4x song speed. I really like 2 hands because it makes me feel like I have complete control over it, but I also like one hand because it feels like I'm closer to the game... or something... *smacks self for such a silly statement*

Just wanted to say something, my sister plays with one foot. She starts out by standing in the center then uses right foot for up, down, and right, then if a left comes she moves her left foot to it, then goes back to using right foot. *shrug* I try to fix her methods, but she just doesn't listen...

2 hands for me, i couldnt imagine trying to pass something like blur with one hand, plus it makes it a lot easier on most songs.

Psh, why limit yourself to only one or two hands? Get some friends in on the action and go for 6 hands E13.gif

I use 2 hands. I use both of my pointer fingers alternating use of them to every other step exactly like using my feet. The only trouble with the way I do it is crossovers through me off alot, but the faster songs with less crossovers are easy. Also one of my friends play with 2 hands, but he uses his 2 pointer fingers on the up and down arrows and his 2 middle fingers for the left and right arrows, he does okay with it, but I can't judge if it's better then my way just because I'm better than him at DDR period, but he seems to like his method and crossovers doesn't throw him off.
