my pad is reading weird

it wot read up+down or left+right...it works only when i press the right and left right after..what do i do......i got the dual usb coneecter and im doin the upstart select thing...theres gotta be another way help me domebody....

edit: well I'm not sure if it should go there or not since it may be an adapter problem. Have you checked the sticky?

edit2: what type of pad do you have? and did you go and remap the keys? (i think thats what its called, but i know its mentioned in the sticky. Gotta read Sync's FAQ on the first page.)
