Are 1/64 notes impossible to do on your feet, and if they arent will they ever be in a DDR song.

If bag has them, then woo, but I find it highly doubtful...

But here's the reason to have 1/64ths

Fake air...

Nope. I don't believe they exist. I think Bag gets down to triplet-32nds-- 64ths would be pointless in context. In order to effectively use 64th notes in bag, they would have to slow it down twice as much (multiplying 32 times 2, giving you 64).

it depends on the tempo. 32nd notes are possible to play on trumpet with some training at around 90bpm. now, that's your fingers and your tongue working. I'm quite sure if you can do it with your tongue you can do it with your legs...so if you cut the tempo in half (45bpm), 64th notes are just as fast as 32nd notes at 90, so they are very possible at certain tempos. now, I seem to remember hearing something about the machine not processing them correctly, but that might have been in reference to 32nd note triplet rhythms...

technically, bag DOES have 1/64 notes. the game can't properly write 1/24 or 1/12 notes; it can only write them in multiples of 1/2 (i.e. 1/4, 1/8, 1/16 1/32, 1/64), so it takes where the 1/24 note SHOULD be and sort of rounds it up to the nearest 1/64 note.

i'm sorry if this sounds like incoherent babble; i can try to clarify myself if needed.

Ive never played bag, but 64th notes at even such a slow tempo are still pretty tough. Normal tempo for songs (100-150 bpm) would be too fast for even 32nd notes. 64th notes would be murder.

This is what's commonly known as a question. Questions usually end with a question mark like so: What time is it? And 1/64th notes don't mean anything. 1/64th notes at 300bpm, yes that's impossible. But at slower BPMs it's perfectly possible. Bag has a few of them IIRC.

I'm sure if it was sold for profit, Konami would clamp down on it (I'm sure it's a matter of time before they clamp down on ITG).[/quote]

Actually, after going through this in my head again, I realized that I think it actually does have 64th arrows. Just a few though. But basically, it's because the arrows scroll up 4 times as slow as the music. So in essense, one quarter note of the music is equivelent to one 16th arrow in the stepfile.

However, what you were saying about how they can only write in multiples of 1/2-- it's not quite that simple. Especially in Bag. Bag is what we call a triplet feel song-- as in every beat is subdivided into three, not two. Therefore, most of the steps in the song are 32nd triplet steps (hence the 123 123 123 123 feel to it). However, to subdivide into triplit 64ths would be way too much. so, they just put them in as straight 64th steps. That only happens like once in the whole song I think.

oops, i shouldn't have said ONLY multiples of 1/2. i think i meant SQUARES of it (1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/16, 1/32, and 1/64, NOT 1/6, 1/12, or 1/24). sorry D=

yeah, you pretty much mean "songs in 6/8 time don't tend to work too well" as evidenced by bag, burning heat, and any of the swing beat songs (mikeneko rock goog.gif ). any step that's a triplet (aka 3 even eighth notes crunched into one beat instead of the normal two eighth notes per beat, etc.)

bag has 64th notes, but not consistant ones. ones that are like every three beats. my host isn't working so i can't show you a stepmania screenshot yet, but if you look, bag is mostly 64ths

um no.....in tsugaru heavy theres 32nd notes...and its 165 bpm. i would think that any other faster tempo would make 32nd notes or 64th notes pretty nasty erm.gif

Tsugaru's 32nds are only a couple of gallops.. A lot of people read them as a jump.

A 1/64 note would be nearly pointless. Think of how practically impossible it is to tell a 1/32 from a 1/4. 1/64 would be even less discernable.

Let's have arrows that DEFY TIME AND SPACE ALTOGETHER!

OK seriously though... when the arrows start getting that close together, it's going to come to a point where it's going to be insignificant when you step on it, the timing window will be large enough where you can get a perfect by jumping on them at the same time. Unless they were just using the 1/64ths in really obscenly slow songs, which I would hope we don't see many more of blink.gif

Aww, that reminds me of Lazlow from Grand Theft Auto 3.
