Hey, this is my first time coming to these forums, and MAN am I surprised... I mean, I can pass almost every heavy song, and really that's been my only goal, and after that I was gonna work on getting AAs on all the songs.
But now I hear everyone going "oh I'm so dissappointed I can't get 80% perfects" or "You're only considered good if you can AAA all the non-cata songs...."
I suppose I was just a little surprised since I thought that AAA was just about impossible... the closest I've seen anyone get to it was on a light mode song using a controller... with 1 great. I couldn't imagine someone dancing a AAA...
Are scores really so important? I was thinking about entering a tournament eventually but if you need AAAs and the like to win I'm not even gonna bother... seems to... picky... _________________

Well, as you seem to have already discovered, for many players, it's the basis of their existence.
But this seems like a good time to paraphrase a scene from "Caddyshack"
"What'd you get?"
"I don't know, I never look at the score"
"Then how do you measure yourself against other players??"
"By height" |

I agree. Too many people care too much about scores when they play DDR. The only reason I look at scores is so that I can guage how fast I am progressing! Once you start caring so much about scores, you can stress yourself out if you can't get that super high score you want.
Just play to have fun and improve I say. |

Because I can only pass one heavy song right now, score doesn't matter. As long as I pass, i'm fine with it. _________________

AA with full combo- Im as happy as can be
getting an AAA takes to much time and to much roboticness sure you may be able to AAA every single song in the game but are you still having fun? |

I get mad if I don't pass a song with an A. Unless I've never passed it before, then any passing letter is fine. Also get mad if I don't AA one of the songs I usually do. _________________

I definitely try to improve, but not to the point where I'll flip out if I don't get fewer than five Greats on everything. I'm usually happy with myself if I make any kind of improvement on a song at all. _________________

Yeah, I know what you mean..
Sometimes, in the arcade, I see some people full comboing the song and there really doing well when all of a sudden they stop and walk off...
One time, I asked why he stopped, he said he was getting to many greats.

And you think that is stupid? That person is trying to improve himself as a person by pushing himself to get better scores than the best players in his region or even the world. I know it seams pointless, because just walking off isn't fun; but eventually just having fun becomes boring. It is only through competition that we develop character. |

Learning how to deal with a sub-par performance builds character as well. Quitting never helped anyone improve at anything. |
