When I insert text, and want to insert one of your various smilies into my post following the text, after I click on a smily, all of my text before the newly inserted smily gets erased! What's the problem? Is there a way I can avoid deletion of my text while still clicking on a smily?? _________________

Doesn't happen to me. :/
The only way I could get it to happen was if I had the rest of the text highlighted, but I can't see why you would do that... |

What browser are you using? The smilies get inserted via JavaScript, so if you have an old or bugged browser, that could certainly be the problem.
In the mean time, if you mouseover the smilies, you can see the codewords in the status bar text and type them by hand. That'll help keep you from losing your post text. _________________

Thank you. (I didn't know the html text of the smilies). I'm using Internet Explorer. Is there a problem or bug that occurs with this browser? _________________

You might want to make sure your patches are up to date. You might be using an intermediate version that has a weird JavaScript problem. Or, fix the problem altogether and switch to Mozilla Firefox. You'll be glad you did. _________________

Problem fixed, using the firefox 0.9. ;p Thanks everyone for your feedback. (Didn't erase! =)) www.mozilla.org for everyone who doesn't already have it! It eliminates technical problems and tabbed browsing is the greatest.
EDIT: I'm sorry, I switched the two numbers around. Fixed. _________________

Speaking of smilies, would it be a difficult/impossible change to switch to the newer PHPBB smiles? I think they look better and provide more options than the current set, but I'm not sure whether or not the smilies are something that is set at board creation and then becomes unchangeable. _________________

I personally like the smileys we have. I think JDogg does too. Is there a link to the "new" PHPBB smileys so I could look at them? _________________

Well I went to the phpBB website and found that there are TONS of smiley packs. If you want to see them, go here. I *think* that the "More smilies" set (3rd from the top) is the same style as the new default ones. I have no idea which theme would be best, or that any of them are better than the current set in your or JDogg's eyes, but I just like the more detailed look that a lot of them have (like the shading and such).
Hell, for all I know, the older version of phpBB that DDRFreak runs on may not even support the newer smily packs . _________________

And it's not *that* old. We backport newer versions in without changing the version number. Ah...the joys of open source... _________________

Lol, it would be sad indeed, and I wouldn't expect that, but you know, sometimes developers move to a more efficient coding structure, alienating backward compatibility. I can't say I expect that phpBB spent hours on end optimizing there smiley system, but there are some serious smiley whores out there, so you never know . _________________

phpBB2.x has always used the same smilie pack by default. phpBB2.2 at the current time does as well. _________________
