So let's see... while I'm very much a hardcore DDR fan who knows (almost) everything about (almost) anything DDR, I found myself becoming interested in other Bemani games (pushed along by the number of non-DDR Bemani songs I dance to with the help of Stepmania). So my question to the much more knowledgable of you at DDRFreak, what ARE the other Bemani games, what do you actually do, and would you mind giving me an example or two of a song on there? _________________

Here's a section of my bookmarks list. This should get you started.

If you play EXTREME, you can pretty much look at all the other BEMANI that there is. Here ye go though...
beatmania (5 key)
beatmania III (foot pad, 5 key)
beatmania IIDX (7 key)
Para Para Paradise
DanceManiax
Keyboardmania
Drummania
Guitar Freaks
Martial Beat
Mambo a GoGo
Pop'n Music
Pop'n Stage
Karaoke Revolution (no arcade machines)
Dance Dance Revolution Karaoke Mix (yes, they did actually make this)
Hope this helps. _________________

Martial Beat is NOT Bemani.
You know what's real silly: I find 90% of the people that brag about their Bemani/DDR "knowledge" either knows all the wrong information or knows all the wrong things. _________________

Ok... but what's the difference between them all? Meaning... what do you do? I know Beatmania is smacking buttons and potentially scratching (for those of you that don't turn it off), what what about Pop'N or Para Para?
And I have Kareoke Revolution, so don't worry about that one. _________________

Considering Martial Beat is made by Konami, in a converted DDR cabinet, and features gameplay set to music, it falls into the "close enough" category for most people.
Hwoarang: If you want to see cabinet photos to get a better idea of how they might be played, dig around System16.com. You want the various Konami Bemani hardware sections.
Pop'n Music requires smacking 9 big 4" dome buttons, and Para Para Paradise has you waving your hands through 5 motion sensor fields that form a half-circle in front of you.

Be careful about System16 though, not all his information on the Bemani section is complete/accurate. _________________

Also, on konami's webstie it used to say BEMANI under the catigory it was on for arcade owners who wanted to buy one. _________________
