Ok, I know this is going to sound like blasphemy, but...

Lately, I have found myself getting bored with DDR. Ordinarily, this wouldn't be a problem, as I would just play some songs I hadn't played for awhile, and that would be that. But lately, I have just gotten really bored with DDR. I have Extreme, Max2 7th Mix, and 5th Mix all at my access, and I have played them all to death. It's even gotten to the point that my PA abilities (I've tried freestyle, it's just sick and wrong to subject others to watching me try to freestyle...) have suffered. To that end, I have decided to take a break from playing DDR for awhile, unless Konami does a total 180 and God himself steps in and somehow gets a new arcade mix out, and I mean now.
I have tried playing with mods, and have never enjoyed it at all. I have played the songs to death, and I can't freestyle, nor will I subject others to that sickening sight. What Konami needs to do to revitalize the series is not some craptacular EyeToy crap, but a new arcade mix with new songs and a new interface that will rekindle everyone's interest.

Has anyone else had this? And if so, what did you do about it? And did it work? Or am I just nuts?

i dunno about a new mix, but a ddr-spin off type of game is out now in some states.

It's called "In the Groove"

http://roxorgames.com/itg/
you can find more info about it at that site posted above.

That game looks like a cheap ddr sim. E10.gif

But i'm not getting bored of ddr, some people still have interest in it. And I wouldn't be suprised if another mix just happens to come out within the next few years.. hopefully? E13.gif

Do what most people do when they become bored with DDR, expand. Pick up IIDX or Pop'n or some other Bemani. I was beginning to get bored of DDR and started playing IIDX and later Popn. They offer new fresh challenges while occassionaly featuring the familiar DDR song. Then just play DDR once in a while and youll get back in to it.

I totally agree with your post, and IIDX is fun E1.gif

I heard that you're spitting pure bull shit. Konami has said nothing of stoping making DDR. They only official thing theyve said is that they are taking a break to improve it.

Ah, IIDX! Believe me, I do experience the joy of having an arcade with an 8th style machine! And if I had more money, I could learn Guitar Freaks and Drummania, as well. That might just be the answer...

Sounds like the best idea. I know GF and DM are awesome to play while you're catching your breath after a few hours of DDR...it's a nice variation.

On a slightly off-topic note: Dood, North America needs more Popn machines.

There are NO DDR machines for 60 square miles. Much less any other Bemani. I'm praying to god that somewhere near here there'll be a 2DX. >.<

Sounds more like you're tired of the same songs, not tired of DDR. Why not play Stepmania then?

Meh, I am starting to get a bit tired of it, yes. The same ol' songs every time I play; it does get old after a while. I need a new mix, NOW! I mean a real DDR mix, not ItG and not Stepmania, the real deal.

I agree with the others in saying find some more Bemani to play.

And also, as marketing advice for Konami, what they should do is release a DDRII using 6-panels for each player as the norm (every song is six panel). What a better way to make DDR more interesting then adding more arrows, especially when they have had that mode in the past and haven't followed up on it. It worked with Beatmania, why not DDR?

I would definitely recommend trying GF and DM! Especially DrumMania. Great music, and it's probably the most accurate sim game of the Bemani series. Very, very challenging, too. There's a DrumMania (well, actually the Korean version Percussion Freaks) 3rd Mix near me, and I can only pass up to 3 star songs on Normal. Guitar Freaks is good, too, especially if you've got some machines hooked up for session mode! Beatmania is awesome, too. Loved it since I tried HipHopMania Complete Mix 2. Of all the Bemani games, Beatmania or DrumMania are my favorites. E4.gif

As for a new arcade DDR, I'm confident that Konami will say something regarding it eventually, as they specifically said they're not ending DDR, but when it'll happen, I dunno. So definitely try another Bemani game.
