|
|
So a friend of mine taking Japanese said .59 was a play on words (in Japanese) by rearranging the spaces in a phrase (ie. in English doing something like changing the spacing of "the red olive" so it becomes "there do live").
He said "dot fifty nine" is "ten go-juu ku" in Japanese. But if you blob the words together differently like so: "tengo juuku"
...tengo means "heaven" and juuku means "school lessons".
Hence, "Lessons from Heaven" is the underlying name of the song, or at least the inspiration for the name it does have.
I have no idea if he's right. I figured someone on here could verify this. |

That interpretation is close, but it's a little too specific actually. =P ".59" is actually supposed to be read "point/dot five nine", not ".fifty-nine," though that's what I say when I refer to the song. Anyway, translating "Point/dot five nine" you have "ten go ku." Put it all together for "tengoku" or simply, "heaven." |

I always thought of .59 as a mission, not a Heaven, butnow I'm understainding that most of Dj.taka's songs go by that line, including Tomorrow Perfume, Heaven to me.(not to mention my favorite song) _________________

59 caliber
I suppose ten gojuuku or ten go ku would work. Ten gojuuku in Japanese is "point fifty-nine" and ten go ku is "point five nine". Tengo does mean heaven and juuku does mean studies.
I take Japanese, bitches. |

Hmm, all this talk about how to read numerical DDR songs makes me think. Is there a certain way to read 5.1.1? That would be Goten-ichiten-ichi. Or it could be something else... the kanji for point/dot has a bunch of different readings:
And there's the other set of Japanese numbers: hitotsu, futatsu, mitsu, yotsu, itsutsu, etc... |
