What's with people saying that Asians would "naturally" be better at the game than most people? I don't think that's necessarily true. I was playing at an arcade one day and this guy said he'd play with me but didn't want to in fear of getting wasted (I'm Asian by the way). But I knew I'd lose because he could do Saints go marching on Heavy and get an A while I'd probably get a C since I haven't played it. He said something about natural coordination and explained to me all this stuff, but I don't think it always applies.
Are there any stereotypes where you guys live? And could someone also tell me whether or not the generalization above is somewhat correct? _________________

The world is full of prejudice, good friend, and some of it not without logic. Asian people started playing DDR earlier than everyone else, so they got more experience, thus the generalization.
That's what I think, at least. _________________

Long theory time!
(which will start with a stereotype, i'm asian, so i'd be offending myself)
Every asian plays piano, violin, or both... seriously think about it. I play piano. There's another theory that by playing music, it trains the mind how to read the notes (or in this case arrows) better. (another theory of this one is that music aids in mathamatics)
Also, i think it's purely mental. I run cross country, so i feel my mental capacity for stress and pain is higher than an average person. but not every asian runs CC, so this is off topic.
The only possible reason i can think why i'm better than most of my friends, is simply because i put more time into it. Maybe a little bit of inginuity to pass a few songs, but otherwise, i don't think it has ANYTHING to do with genes.
So actually, i think it's just because of the violin/piano playing... _________________

Really? Because I've been playing the violin for 9 years. That's a real different look at it. Never thought of it that way. However, I knew that the music theory knowledge would benefit me in the game. Knowing the 1,2,3,4 or 1 and 2 and 3 and 4, 1 e and a 2 e and a, etc. One thing I've noticed too is that most of the songs in DDR are in 4/4 time. _________________

I think bioclown's theory is the most accurate. Given the circumstances in my area (long time players who are insanely talented, asian or not. Though the "year-long" [or less] Asians aren't as much of a sight to behold). |

I don't see why anyone could possibly be offended by this sort of stereotype. I mean, honestly... Asians are better coordinated and better at math! Wow.. that's so mean! And black men have enormous.. well.. you know ! I can't think of a single good stereotype for white people.. not one. Lotsa horrible ones.. can't dance, can't play sports, not gonna get into below the belt . |

i highly doubt the coordinated part. I crash into everything (and both my parents are asian...)
i'm a less than year long player, sure i'm not AAAing 10footers, but i've passed MaxX UnlimiteD after... say... around a Month of playing it... (I still doesn't know if it's impressive or not, but all my friends are like, "you're crazy, you and your asian genes"
oh yeah, i was just being overly prepared when i said, "which will start with a stereotype, i'm asian, so i'd be offending myself" just incase anyone is offended, because i know some people who'd yell at me for this...
BUT... this is an insult to asians... 1. we have narrow eyes... can't see half the screen half the time (j/k, but you have to bring out the narrow eyes) 2. We don't have proper protien content for muscle growth, so most asians are not especially muscular _________________

Yeah i have heard that, but since everyone is white around here, we classify people as "almost asian" for being able to do things that they would say asians are "naturally good at" i.e. DDR (ive just been playing a long time), musical instruments, ping-pong, stupid stuff like that. _________________
