ok, even though this is in the wrong forum, I'll answer it anyway.
a person can full combo a song and still get an A. that's because the AA depends on the percentage of dance points (perfect=+2 DANCE points, not score points) out of the total possible number of dance points. it is possible that he got the AA with a high number of greats, meaning that he just barely AAed it. meanwhile, you got too many misses (a miss is worth -8 dance points) to get a AA, but you full combo the rest of the song. perfects at the end of a big combo are worth more than perfects at the beginning of a combo. chances are, you got a bigger combo, but with too many greats to give you a AA.
to simplify all of that, just understand that the score of a song in ddr is like the points in who's line is it anyway. the score really doesn't matter that much.
