Here's what you're going to do:

1. Find your Stepmania folder and open it
2. Open the folder labeled Courses and open a courses folder
3. Double-click one of the courses you have and open it in Notepad
4. Erase all data, save for the tags

or

1a. Stepmania folder
2a. Courses folder
3a. Create a folder for your courses (example: Homebrew Courses) and open it
4a. Right-click insode the folder, go to New, and click Text Document

Now, here's what you NEED to have in the document to be able to edit a course with Stepmania (we'll use one of my courses as an example (anything in brackets should not exist in this code)):

#COURSE:Pervert ROAD; [course title]
#LIVES:4; [number of battery lives...you should default to 4]
#METER:Easy:0; [don't worry about this]
#METER:Regular:0; [or this]
#METER:Difficult:0; [or this]
#SONG:DDR Extreme USA/SAKURA:Hard:; [your songs]
#SONG:DDR 2nd Mix/Keep On Movin':Hard:;
#SONG:DDR MAX2/i feel:Hard:;
#SONG:DDR 5th Mix/INSERTiON:Hard:;
#SONG:DDR MAX/SO DEEP (PERFECT SPHERE REMIX):Hard:;
#SONG:DDR MAX/ON THE JAZZ:Hard:;

Now, you don't even have to put your songs in. It can look like this:

#COURSE:Pervert ROAD; [course title]
#LIVES:4; [number of battery lives...you should default to 4]
#METER:Easy:0; [don't worry about this]
#METER:Regular:0; [or this]
#METER:Difficult:0; [or this]
#SONG:

After that, save the file as "course title".CRS Open up Stepmania and, from the menu, select Edit Courses. Find your course and edit it. Note that, if you went for the second way of setting this up, you'll need to fill in the first song, go up to the entry options and DUPLICATE ENTRY. Then, switch to entry #2 and repeat the process untill you're done.

Here's what my Legend Road course looks like. Your filesystem may look completely different, so, please, use the second option to set up the CRS document and edit from scratch:

#COURSE:Legend Road; [enter the japanese kanji, if you know how]
#LIVES:4;
#SONG:DDR MAX/MAX 300:hard:;
#SONG:DDR MAX2/MAXX UNLIMITED:hard:;
#SONG:DDR Extreme USA/SAKURA:hard:;
#SONG:DDR Extreme USA/The legend of MAX:hard:;
#SONG:DDR Extreme USA/PARANOIA survivor MAX:challenge:;

Now, you need a banner for your course to get rid of that nasty Stepmania default banner. So, create a 256x80 .PNG image file for it and make sure that it's name matches your course's name EXACTLY. Or, you can just steal the image from NNR and scale it to 256x80, if it isn't there, already.

Shutdown Stepmania, and reload it. Voila'. You now have an oni course.

That should be it!

Lock plz.
