Hello DDR fans,
My name is Eran, a product manager at a new high tech company devoted to create crazy multi player games.
One of the ideas i'm approaching is a new revolutionary DDR game. In order to make it a truly unique and new experience, I was wondering if you could help me out with your expertise.
Here are a few questions that would help me understand the DDR market better:
1. What makes DDR such an addicting game?
2. What are your favorite features in the game?
3. What are the game's limitations?
4. What would you like to see be added (just throw out any ideas you have, even if you think they can't be done with today's technology). E.g. 8 people on at the same time, each controlling a part of the music. If they mess up, people will hear it too.... Or a face off where 10 are on the floor at the same time, competing in pairs. each time one of the pair is out, the other takes up their territory and faces off against another winner, to the point where there is only one player standing.

Thank you very much for your help. There is an excellent chance you will see in a few months a crazy new DDR game that hopefully will be built to satisfy and fulfill your DDR gaming needs.

more than happy to help

1. DDR is addicting for two reasons. there is always another, harder song to beat (self improvement/challenge) and the exhileration of competition
2. Favorite features: EDIT MODE, variety of songs, training mode, unlock system, modifier selection, customizable nonstop courses
3. limitations: few and far between in my opinion. In edit mode, you cant make 32nd beats as in "tsugaru"
4. suggestions: Keep the game one vs one, but it would be AWESOME if there was a tournament mode! In example, mabye it could log the names of 8 players, set the rules (song selection, modifiers, special modes like great attack, scoring), have the players play an elimination or round robin tournament and keep track of places, a way to withdraw players, and a way to correct errors (possibly double check if the match should count should one person push or otherwise cheat)

thanks for giving me a chance to voice my opinion!

Basically, Amplitude on a pad? disturb.gif

So, a kah-razy new game, eh? Well first, you have to make it sexy. DDR is so addicting for its sex appeal. Bright lights right in your face has been known to give many men wood, and sometimes even girls on occasion. Refer to Pump It Up for the best example.

My favorite feature of the game is the thought that you're really dancing, and how much people at the clubs would love you if you brought your DDR moves to the real floor. Bonus points if you cosplay as a DDR character while you're at a dance club.

The game's biggest limitation is that it can't play itself. Because if it did, you could just sit by and watch how sexy it is. If this were possible, people would flock from miles around just to watch how arousing this piece of machinery can be. Plus, the arcade could make even more money by putting in a snack bar, much like one found in a movie theater. You just arrive, grab your snacks, then watch the machine in all of its sexy splendor.

As for new features I want added, I want it to go to work for me everyday and bring home my paycheck every two weeks. AND NO BACK-TALK!! Zukins hate back-talk.

And in case it wasn't painfully obvious enough, I'm very skeptical to the whole idea. biggrin.gif

1. Well for me what makes it soo addicting is the songs, I like them alot so I play to them, But also because the steps become challenging like... It becomes an itch you can almost reach but in time you will get it, Thats what makes me play so much because I want to be at least a good player I mean I only been playing for a few months lets see... About 4 Months and Im already a Ok player not the Best but I'd make a good competitor.
2. I Like the Dancers Hahahaha! biggrin.gif But I also like the Bright lights plus the voice person that tells you "Good Job" or something nice like that but it also says some really critical things that make me wanna break the PS2 Hehehehe riiight.gif
3. Limitations... I'll go with what Zukin Man Said Heh riiight.gif
4. Well... The idea seems kinda cool but for me and my friends we make the game more challenging by switching off during sections, Like I start the begging part someone takes over the middle section Blah blah... Although I would play the game for laughs more often if it swore at you... LOL!! Though that will never happen biggrin.gif

You can make a 4 player diagonal DDR. It'd be kinda the equivalent of two DDR Machines pushed up against each other back to back but it'd be slanted for each side and it'd be in the shape of an X. Nobody can see anybody else's score during the game (Or you can split screen by 4 or 2). I guess you could add a pair mode or whatever. (Oh yeah, by making the pad in the shape of an X, it DOES take out doubles, but it offers new possibilities. Anyway, solo mode won't bother anybody (because nobody shares screens) and theoretically you could make them all display their own sounds and songs OR double up. Meaning you can have 4 different people playing DIFFERENT songs or you can set it to "Linked Play" or whatever and have everyone playing the same songs and comparing scores.
