|

I didn't see this question pop up in a few pages of the metal pad discussion thread, so I'm asking here
I've had to do a lot of soldering with my pad because the wires come off a lot (kinda). In the process of soldering, I took off the little rubber feet on the bottom (definatly my first mistake) and played it on the carpet a lot and having to move it which meant dragging it accross the carpet on its bare metal bottom (also another dumbassed mistake ). Well, now one of the arrow's wires it seems are dead and I'm thinking I static-ed part of the PCB to death inside of the pad. To be particular its the right arrow thats having the problem and its certainly not the contact, as I've actually touched the two ends of the wires together and NOTHING happens. I've even shaved them down to make sure those parts of the wires weren't messed up or somthing and no go. ALL of the other wires work fine so I'm left with one question:
Is this the end of my metal pad? _________________

Just replace the controller board! First find an unwanted PSX controller, like a cheap Interact pad or something, and then soulder the metal pad's wiring onto it. Its not too hard and its guarunteed to work unless you either do a lousy soulding job or the problem is actually a grounded wire elsewhere in the pad.
So no, its not the end of your metal pad. The board is easy to replace. It should cost you about $3-5. |

Well, I don't know what the buttons are wired too. It is the L1, L2, R1, and R2 buttons?
And secondly, the only way I can even think of getting to the main board (which is in the center of the pad) is ripping off the bottom of the pad, which will undoubtably wreck it (because I know from experiance that it ain't goin back on, it also bends A LOT).
I'd love to build my own but I just don't have the time _________________
