Hey all,
Just some thoughts on things. While i quite a long ways away from being considered middle aged/old/over the hill but I was wondering, is there something about this game that forbids older people from playing? I dont think i have EVER seen anyone over the age of 24 playing DDR. I mean if DDR is still around in the far future even if im 40 i sure as hell would still play. Whatre your thoughts on this? _________________

what you need to do if ur not old enough to drive is find friends or get ur dad into playing DDR. my friends dad, thinks hes all hip and what not (which he is) so we got him into DDR which makes an easy ride to the arcade... hes pretty good too lol shure old people can play as long as they can move lol piece out _________________

I think that there shouldn't be any limits except for a body condition! Heck, if I'dve DDRed 4 or 5 days ago, I would have had worse leg pains then I was having. My take is that if you've got the groove and you're not in pain, you can do it!! |

Back in my early days of DDR on the MAX2 machine, I came across a man I'd say to be atleast in his mid-40's playing. Bald, skinny, and even his signature was DAD. I saw him play Naoki standard oni and get above a 1000 combo (he then failed D2R), but in the eyes of me, who was still a trick player, it was pretty bad-buttocks. _________________
I will stop playing DDR once I am offered at least a $25,000,000 shoe endorsement deal from NIKE. Until then, I'm on the pads till I die!

Why would anyone think that there is an age limit? I am now 33 and play almost any song. The only ones I still can't pass are those darn 10 footer songs, with the exception of bag. I wouldn't say that I'm very fit, it's just something that I enjoy doing. I know that I will be able to play well into my 40's if there is still arcade machines around. The only time when your too old is when you think that you're too old. DDR is an enjoyable game for all ages. Young and old alike. Everyone should look past age, sex, or racial boundries because this is what keeps DDR more like a community and will make Konami see that this is the game that's worth keeping. |

I believe the owner of Tokyo Game Action (Joebiscuit on these boards) is in his upper 20's if not lower 30's. Then again he could be 22 and reading this message
But anyways, he's the oldest DDR player I personally know. When TGA opened up, there were ELDERLY trying out the EX machine. Umm.....beat that! _________________

Joking or not, one day you too will get "old" and will be dissed by young peeps.
Your teen years will be over before you know it.
I'll be turning 30 next month. I think I will tire of DDR before my body forbids me to play it.
For the record, I can do some Doubles Heavy catas. |

You act like DDR has been around for decades and you were playing DDR ever since you were a young kid....
it's only been out for like 5 years, that meens even if you did play the day 1st mix came out in arcades you were 25 when you started!
There is no age limit, and there shouldnt be. THe oldest guy I've seen play it looked like he was in his mid 30's. I've also seen the lady owner of our arcade play ddr various times and she has to be 40 or somethin (hard tellin). |

Sorry if I seem rude. I've only been playing DDR for less than 2 years. I can't help being the age I am, but must face the facts that this game is aimed at the teens. That is certainly not me.
Some young people seem to forget that everyone older than themselves was once a teenager. I find it funny in a way because some teens lip older people off and run away to avoid a beating*, but several years from now, they will be furious to be on the receiving end of such harassment.
I have seen a 40 or 50 year old woman try DDR. She had a great time.
EDIT: *Lately, I've noticed younger people are more eager to get into physical fights with the 20-somethings and beyond. I am not saying you or anyone else is disrespectful here (I haven't seen it in this thread) but my point is that getting older is unavoidable. When you begin to see teenagers as "those guys" then you know you have gotten older.

Look at Aaron, Take, and Yasu... they are all old. I think. And Akudaikan, I think, is really old. Or something like that...
I figure, once you start getting arthritus, it's time to stop. =D _________________

Well, I've heard stories about people older than thirty playing, but you hardly ever see it. One of the clerks at my arcade played it when it was first installed, and he must've been in his late 20's.
On the other hand, there were videos up here that had people and their parents playing at tourneys, and that one really sad story posted earlier this week about the old woman who used to play DDR with her daughter before her daughter died in a car crash... _________________
