how do I configure my ps2 dance pad for stepmania?

can anyone help this? I don't understand why my pad isn't working. I went into options and then into joystick mapping everything works for controls EXCEPT when I try to actually play the game. Then they won't work for the arrows.... can anyone help me with this??

1) Whats the adapter
2) Whats the pad
3) DWI OR SM
4) Did you turn of axes
5) PC Specs
