|
|
I really, really want the RO Ignition style pads, but I simply don't have the $200 I'd need for two of them. I'm looking at eBay and I can have to Ignitions for $50, including shipping.
My first question is, what's the catch? They're supposedly brand new, in factory sealed boxes. They are, as far as I can tell, exactly the same as the Ignition pads that retail at $100+. The seller has hundreds of customers talking about perfectly good pads. I can Buy Now and skip the whole auction. Seems too good to be true. What is the catch??
Second, why are they selling on eBay? And why are the prices so cheap? I always figured eBay was for selling used stuff, and yet these are "brand new". Why are they on eBay, then?
Third, has anyone bought these pads from eBay? Have you had a good or bad experience? Are the pads as good as the $100 ones in stores?
Articles like this scare me. I really want the pads...but I really don't want to get stiffed. |

I bought 2 Ignition Pads off of Ebay for $75 plus shipping in 2002 and they lasted for 9 months so generally, you should be ok.
People sell new stuff on Ebay all the time. If the seller says the pads are new, they most likely are.
As for getting scammed, if the seller has a lot of feedback (anything over 100 positives with positive feedback being 99% or higher since you can't expect a seller to have 100% positive feedback because sometimes, sellers get negative feedback unfairly like a retailatory feedback for reporting a non paying bidder) you really don't need to worry about getting scammed.
If you really want to be safe, pay with Paypal and use a credit card to pay. That way if the seller did scam you, which probably will not happen, you could do a chargeback through your credit card and get your money back. |

I bought some "ignition 2.0" pads off ebay for about $55 after shipping. I knew they werent red octane brand, as those go for about $80 each on ebay. I got Cypher Games ones, and they are the sh!ttiest pads ever. One broke after less then a week. |

If you want Ignition pads (I'm with you - they are my favorite pad to play on) but don't feel like going on ebay, check these guys out: www.levelsix.com
They make excellent Ignition pads for $36.95. I have one Red Octane and one Level Six and trust me, they are IDENTICAL. The Red Octane company is such a ripoff. It's ridiculous, I really don't respect them based on how bad they rip off the consumer. |

I bought a pad off Ebay a little more than a month ago. I think the Ebay store was called Vortz. So far, it's been working great. Alot of stuff off ebay is brand new. Alot of Ebay sellers/stores buy items in large quantities and at wholesale price, then sell them on Ebay. I paid like, $32 (that include shipping) for a knock-off Red Octane with the dense foam insert and raised arrows. |

I hear some people say they bought the most notorriously cheap pads ever and they lasted for almost a year, and some people buy super-expensive name brand pads and they break within the day, its really hard to judge these things. _________________

I have the same pads that I'm more than happy with modified with wood boards in them. _________________

Using the foam as opposed to a wooden board wouldnt not make the arrows stick :-P
The reason mine suck is because the arrows stick down and mis register about 1 in 4 or 5 notes. Hell, the metal pad I built has been the best pad I have owned, or played on at home. |

So a couple questions, then:
1) Are the pads really what they're advertised to be? If I buy 2 "Ignition V2" pads, are those RO Ignitions, or are those the cheaper Cypher models or something, that don't use the same kind of foam or whatever?
2) Who are some sellers on eBay I can really, truly trust?
3) What if something goes wrong with the pad? Say it's a factory defect, nothing that's the seller's fault. Can I possibly return it? (I"m mainly looking at VortzGame right now...)
Oh and one other thing:

How's that, when shipping alone is $25?? |

Le me add another question -- has anyone bought from Vortz.com ? How are their pads, and how is that site seperate from the eBay store by the same guy? And how can they sell pads that cheap? Is the foam insert cheaper or something? |

1) I think v2.0 means the foam is an inch thick. But its not like RO or BNS where the foam is "harder." Most vendors sells ignition pads with soft foam, which doesn't seem as responsive as the hard foam. Other than that, the build of the pad is pretty much the same across all the ignition pads.
2) Generally, the ones with high customer rating. Take a look at their history and see what buyer had to say about the product they bought. I'd suggest vortzgame - v3.0 ignition pads. The pads have the hard foam and nylon/fabric (lil more slippery with socks) surface. As for quality, it should be the same as any ignition pad given the same conditions. Actual pictures are here.
3) There should be a statement about their policy about DOA items. For vortzgame, you have 5 days of the receipt to make the return/exchange. |

And again, softpad sticky please. Don't start any more threads outside of the softpad sticky, and don't start a second thread with the same topic as your first when your first is still active, please. _________________
