Me and Jesse(Enforce1, ran the last DDR tournament at Boardwalk Fun) are organizing a 7th Style tournament on home controllers. There's a few reasons behind it. First and foremost is to have some fun playing IIDX competitively. Second, and equally important, is to show the arcade management how much of a following iidx has, and potentially convince them to buy a machine. If everything goes according to plan, this might be Maryland's best chance at getting a iidx machine.
Tentative date is June 26 as of right now. There will definitely be Light 7 and 7 Key, and potentially also Beginner and Expert, depending on amount of demand for them. Entry fees will be $10 for prereg, and $12 at the event. Right now we plan to have 2 setups: a set of two dx controllers for beginner/l7, and a set of two ASCs(courtesy of xiayu) for 7k/expert.
As of right now, everything is still in planning. We are, though, trying to get a list of all the people who would be willing and likely to attend. This will help in planning, scheduling, and obtaining sponsors. If we only have a list of 12 people, the chances of getting a iidx machine ever or sponsors is pretty slim. If you think it's likely that you'll go, drop a name in http://primaryvivid.com/iidx/
The more people the better. Spread the word around. Rules will be posted when they're finalized, but for those of you that play expert, I've gotten some pretty good feedback on the system I thought up for it.
So if you live in the MD/VA/PA/DE area, attend, please. It's for fun AND a good cause!
