Only the up and left directions being read?

Okay, I purchased this PSX->USB adapter: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3087532005&category=3677 and two DDR pads from a friend, similar to these: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=21188&item=3090652499&rd=1. I set them up with the latest drivers and set them to Dance mode, but when I test out the various buttons in the Game Controllers menu, all of buttons are detected and work properly aside from the right and down directional keys. The LED lights on the pad itself light up, but the directional presses are not detected by either Stepmania or the Game Controllers property window. Any ideas? Thanks.[/url]

I had the same problem with a Konami flat pad. I ended up switching to a Cypher Ignition pad which works perfectly.

I don't think the up, select, start combo will make that pad work, but it's worth a try.
