Be careful, Andy, you might break it with terrible grammar like that.

The USB adapter's functioning kind of depends on the version of Stepmania you have on your computer. (I suggest a.14) The problem should be fixed by going into the options menu and going to the controller options and switching one of the joystick settings to "Ignore Joy Axes." That should work.

Go into your control panel and under game controls make sure that your pad is actually being read by your computer. When I originally set up my pad the lights lit up but the computer didn't actually receive any information from it. I had uninstall the drivers and delete the Human Interface Device from the system under device manager. (controlpanel/system/devicemanager/humaninterfacedevice), Restart my pc with the pad plugged into the usb port. It reinstalled the HID then I reinstalled the software and tested the HID right there to make sure it worked. If it doesn't use the Start+seclect+up for 3 seconds trick. Try it again. If this works then go into step mania and under options set up the pad controls. (options/config key-joy mappings) From here all you do is move to the first line where the Up function is assigned, hit enter on your keyboard and then press the up button on your pad. Continue to do this to assign all your buttons. Then hit escape on your keyboard. Now go down to test input and press buttons on your pad to make sure the game is registering the pad steps. If it doesn't do anything it's some other problem. Either the pad is broken or the adapter is. If it shows something but says the button is *not mapped* go back into the key/joy mappings and see if your settings took. Hope this helps. >.<

oh one more thing. when you are testing the pad you do this by pressing the properties button under game controls when you highlight the HID device in the list. you'll hear sounds and the lights will light up if it's reading.
