Hey all. I dunno why my thread keeps disappearing, but I'll post this again. If this thread goes against the rules of the forum, could one of the Mods PM me and tell me why.
I recently got this dance mat ( http://www.dabs.com/uk/shopbybrand/logic3/playstation2/ProductView.htm?quicklinx=2SH0 - apparently compatible with PS1/PS2s) which works fine with my PS2 > PC converter. However, I wanted to use it on my Xbox so I brought this converter ( http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=41015&item=3084769270&ssPageName=STRK:MEBWN:IT ). When I plugged it in to my Xbox though, the mat simply refused to work. I thought this may be a problem with the converter I was using, but I plugged in a normal PS pad into it, it worked fine.
Now though, I'm now not too happy with the mat and have decided to get a proper hard plastic one from lik-sang (this one: http://www.lik-sang.com/info.php?category=237&products_id=573& ).
I'm just fearing that when I do get this mat to use on my Xbox, it won't work with the converter.
So any suggestions? What's the problem I'm having, and do you reckon it'll be the same if I get the new mat?
Cheers. |

Hello, and welcome to the forums.
It's not readily apparent, but there's actually a converter/adapter discussion in two separate places.
Heh. Unfortunately, as I'm writing this post, I can find neither of them.
A couple of diagnostic questions:
Does the adapter work with *any* other game? At all? Does it give any response whatsoever?
Be sure to check both the D-pad and the buttons.
Any dance pad converter you get has to work by translating the buttons and not the d-pad axes (since, on a D-pad, Up and Down can't be active at the same time). It doesn't sound like that's the problem with yours though - it sounds like you may just have a bum converter.
Try it with some other games first. If you get any results, check in the Ultramix thread. _________________

Alright, got an update on the situation.
It seems that the converter I have only seems to work on the new PS2 pads (the d-pad as well as the analogue controls work flawlessly). Even the newer PS1 pads with the analogue controls don't seem to work with the converter (for reasons I'm not sure - I guess the PS2 pads have different circuitry then the PS1 pads).
So anyway, the mat that I want to purchase on lik-sang, it says that it works both with the PS and PS2, however, so did the logic3 mat that have and that didn't work.
So do I risk getting the mat and it not working? Another option I could do is buy a converter that actually DOES work with both PS1 and PS2 pads although I don't really wanna spend more money on a new converter and, if I do, it has to actually, 100%, be sure to work.
So any comments y'all? |

I suggest getting a new converter, just to be safe.
Try using the Search tool to find some good feedback on what converters people have had good results with. If you search for "converter" and select "DDR Console Games" as the forum (in the lower-lefthand section of the window), you'll get a good amount of relative hits. _________________
