I borrowedmy friends Red Octane metal pad. It was working fine nothing wrong then all of a sudden the up right arrow doesnt respond at all.. i opened itcleaned it, but didnt want to do too much or I might ruin it permanatley. My friend said I broke it from playing it on the computer and I shorted out the wires... anybody have any suggestions?

Why would it "short out" from playing on a computer?

Try it on a PSX/PS2 and see if you still get the same problem.

Clean the arrows. I don't mean lightly, is it a foil contact? Sometimes when the foil gets down onto the copper sensor its really gets stepped into real hard and you might need to pick it out with your fingernails or something. Thats what happened with mine.

Make sure there is absolutely -nothing- on the copper sensor that might make the connection without being stepped on.

Write a very detailed email to Red Octane and see what they suggest. They're going to need more detail than you're giving right now.

Ok, using a pad on the computer or the ps2 is the same. Just because you hooked it into your computer doesnt mean it shorted from the computer. Your friend is a moron for claiming that.
