Having a problem getting Stepmania to run, not a usual one

Ok, so, every time I download Stepmania 14 Alpha, it runs great on its first run through! Good ol' CF and my parallel port adaptor work better than ever! But then, I finish playing, and close Stepmania.

Next day, I go to open up Stepmania to play again, and when I double click the icon to start it up-nothing. Nothing at all. No error screen, no nothing. The mouse turns to the hourglass, and about 30 seconds later, it goes back to normal, and the computer is back to how it was, like nothing happened...

What trouble shooting have you already done?

Have you uninstalled and reinstalled?

Have you tried running SM with no songs?

Have you rebooted since then? Run Scan Disk?

Do you have a virus?

Is everything else working fine, or just SM?

Did your computer reboot unsuccessfully and revert to old drivers?

Have you tried older versions of SM? Earlier alphas? 3.0 final?

Yes, same thing every time.

No.

I have but, not inbetween the time it did work, and didn't work.

Do you have a virus?
No, atleast I don't think so >_>

Nothing else does that, just SM

No

Have you tried older versions of SM? Earlier alphas? 3.0 final?
An earlier alpha that I had, 9 or 10 I believe, was working, as well as 3.0 final, just, not as well with my drivers and such as this one (13b).

I was searching around the DDRManiax stepmania forum or wherever, and there was a kid there who had this same problem (no one responded to him), except, none of the alphas would work for him. Now I wonder if I should try and go get an earlier one to see if it does the same thing >_>

Well, what do you want us to say? There's no evidence to tell what is wrong. We are not tech support people. If you want to pay someone to visit your computer and fiddle around, okay, but if not, we can't do anything.

ctrl+alt+delete, look to see if sm is running in processes. you might be suprised.

I see no Stepmania running in the Task Manager when I do that >_>

And, there are some intelligent tech people hooded paladin, if you aren't one, you can go away.

I'm okay at tech, being a nerd. Enough to help people with small problems, but not problems that fluster experienced people.

The point of my last point, Mitman, was that there is not enough evidence in these posts. Not even an experienced tech support person could tell you what to do. What you need is someone to look at your computer and get the observations for himself and try things out, but none of us is going to do that. Not to be a jerk, but, there is nothing here for you, unless someone has had this exact situation before, but I have never heard of it.

Well, my version of Stepmania was 13b, and I got 14 last night, and I'm gonna go see if it still works >_> if it does, problem solved in the update >_>

And, this problem has started showing up at other places, just, not here.

This also seems like a computer problem that's happened to numerous people >_> as, I've had times when I click stuff and it just doesn't open, so, it seems like whatever's used to solve those problems would work, but, whatever >_>

Nope, same problem with 14 >_< I'm gonna hunt down another older Alpha and see if it works >_>
