They do work on these forums. A user in southwest has a japanese name.
However, I can't say if we've changed anything, (or if phpBB was changed something).
I know we have the ability to post HTML turned off, so that can't be it. I don't know specifically if we have done anything or if the phpBB group has. _________________

They may have switched to a different character encoding in the default layout. This might also have to do with the removal of non charset characters to comply with HTML specifications. |

as an extension of last year's April Fools joke, numerous users (myself included) changed our usernames to Japanese character representations of our names (I even changed my old GIR banner to reflect it), so it is possible. _________________

you have to put it in in unicode. if you don't know about it, it's an international special character format that is inputted in this format:
where X is a number. there could be 3, 4, 5, or maybe even 6, i don't remember. find a unicode chart of characters somewhere on the internet to learn how to do specific characters.
if you're having trouble finding japanese characters, try making a search for CJK Unified Ideographs, this is the character set that contains traditional and simplified chinese and japanese.
for example, to write my name 'oolong' with a little ~ on the end, which was what my name was for a while, type
Code: | 大ろん〜 |
hope this helped! _________________

Yeah, if I recall someone else in southeast had a name with japanese text. You just have to figure out how to do it. _________________
