welcome back happy.gif I have to say, I had cheap soft pads for the first few months I was getting into ddr, but then my girlfriend and I teamed up to buy a pair of red octane hard foam pads at otakon last year (we got two for $140, which ain't bad considering they're normally $100 each happy.gif) and my performance suddenly improved much quicker than it had been.

basically, I think cheap pads are fine to start out on, but there's a certain point where you'll start to plateau until you invest in something more expensive. I think a good time to move up to red octanes is when you're starting to try 7-8 foot songs with the intent of actually passing them (as opposed to laughing at how fast the arrows are moving and thinking that nobody could ever possibly keep up with that).

if you've got some experience already and you know you like the game, you might as well put the money toward better pads if you have it, since they really do make a difference and you'll be paying for them sooner or later anyway E1.gif

just my opinion happy.gif

those pads work really well if you mod them. much better than the MadCatz pads and other cheapo ones, although i am starting to get phantom arrows after about 9 months of use.
