I would like to respectfully ask Konami Computer Entertainment Tokyo and Konami of America the following:
1. Seeing as to the difficulty of the song, to officially give the rank of 9 feet and title of "catastrophic" to "Flash in the Night" of DDR MAX arcade and PS2 NTSC-J releases as it has not been repeated on a mix with foot ratings.
2. To officially promote "Drop Out" 6-Panel to the rank of 9 feet with the title of "catastrophic" as they have done with "Drop Out" single, which has exactly the same number of steps (albeit with two more panels, therefore increasing the difficulty).
And to consider naming a US release following Extreme for the PS2 "Extreme 2", and not "Party Collection."
Thank you very much.
Sincerely,
Ben Adkins _________________

I don't think Konami would upgrade either of the two songs to catas, because six panel machines aren't being made any more, (as far as I know) and I doubt Flash In The Night will appear on an arcade mix again. I'm not sure how it would be worth their time to do it. |

Internet petitions simply won't work. They are ineffective and easily spoofed.
Also, "catostrophic" was never used in any mix, however, I do recall "catastrophic" being used. |

Hey, it's worth a shot. Besides, we're here to promote the discussion of DDR anyway.
And yeah, IMO Witch Doctor probably should be a cata, but I'm not asking for it because that would be an actual numerical upgrade. Drop Out has the precedent that the easier, single version has already BEEN promoted, and I realize that they would not do the same for the 6-panel version, save with the release of a new solo mix, but would have to promote it in name only.
But as I said, it's worth a shot...maybe I should find their offices in Roppongi (if I ever found a phone number that WORKED...) and ask them in person, as well as the location of a Bemani store over here (anyone who could PM me with info on that matter, I would greatly appreciate!; in fact I should go post in the regional forum.) _________________

The board is here to promote discussion of DDR. We're here to facilitate it. This thread is here to promote a petition and, frankly, internet petitions actually aren't worth the shot. They have little or no influence on the ongoings of an international corperation. |

There is currently several online petitions for a new DDR arcade mix. The influence of these on Konami are questionable however. A new mix requires a very large financial investment on their part. However, if Konami did release a successful 9th mix arcade game, they would benefit greatly from it.
Adding a new mix is one thing. Changing the foot rating on a song is just picky. It's more of a bug fix than anything else (probably less important than a bug fix, because it's not truely a bug). The change of such a petty detail would be more hassle than it would be worth, netting no financial gain whatsoever.

Changing foot ratings of songs? How exactly do you expect this to be done? If a new arcade mix was released...with oh...let's say Drop out with different step patterns, hence becoming a cata or whatnot. Do you realize how much stuff that would frick up? People who normally play on DDREX machines recognizing one song for it's difficulty and steps, and then coming to a different machine with whole new steps? It just wouldn't work out. Now let's just backup a bit, let's say that what you meant to say was to change the foot ratings on the PREVIOUS mixes, this is even harder to accomplish. What do you expect, do you want Konami to go out there and find everysingle machine and change that tiny little part for you? It's hardly worth it =\ _________________

Konami obviosly doesn't read the DDRFREAK forums...much.
Or at least not KOJ...
And I'm sure they don't really care what the feet number of most of their songs are. _________________

Like others have said, I wouldn't bother trying to get a petition going on the internet. If they do have any real influence on anyone, I have yet to see it or have someone prove it to me. Anyway, I would like to see a new mix of DDR, but I'm willing to wait patiently for it. Keep in mind, Konami never officially said that DDR was dead. And if they're going to take their time, fine. I would rather see Konami release a new DDR a year or two, or longer, from now, and have it be a great mix of songs with steps that are fun and challenging rather than a rushed mix with songs hastily added in and off-sync. |

When did I EVER say to go back and reprogram all the damn games? That wouldn't just involve reprogramming and adding a foot, it would involve adding an entire new difficulty to Solo 2K!
Jesus Christ people! I just said to promote the damn song, which CAN BE DONE ON PAPER or in an e-mail press release.
And why would they need to change the steps to call it a cata? Drop Out single's steps remain the same and it moved from 8 to 9 feet. 6-Panel has the same number of steps (397), and with two extra panels is definitely harder. _________________
