Recently my pad went out of commission and I had to order a new one. I can't go too long without DDR, though, so I spent around two weeks in training mode with the controller. While doing this, I think I was able to learn to read the arrows very well, in a way that I couldn't do while dancing because I no longer had to worry about reaching the arrows quickly enough.
After two weeks I got the new pad. I thought that I would be really rusty after all that time with no dancing whatsoever... But I immediately started breaking old high scores. And normally I have trouble with a good deal of 7-footers, but within a day I had passed Healing Vision and Era (Nostalmix), 8-footers.
Do you think practicing with the controller helps, or am I delusional, and these are the workings of a fresh pad? |

I'd say it's a little of both. the controller may help in your note reading because you can study the notes without getting tired by playing them. And yes, having a new pad helps. Personally, I got better scores with a new pad because I was happy to have a new pad and being in a better mood helped me play better. further, when it comes to some things taking a break from them and comming back later sometimes helps. I know when I take a break from DDR, or IIDX, and come back with no other practice I often do better. |

The controller helps you read the arrows and learn the beat of a song _________________

Playing Max300 or any of the Maxes for that matter with a controller greatly improves your ability to read arrows at a fast speed. It helped me |

My defense against people accusing me of using a controller to obtain Max(X) AAs on home is that I am considerably worse on a controller. I can hardly pass either of them. |

I can AA every song on Max 2 (Except MaxX....freakin 10 greats off) on a controller. I wouldn't do quite as well on my feet. It helped me. _________________

The controller does help you read steps better, so you can atually do them on the pad. I've used it a couple of times, myself. I do however in my spare time use the controller to analyze steps, but I like dancing it out more, because I think that you get a feel for the steps if you dance to them, but the controller plays a part in helping you learn to read the steps also, so that your feet can react to the steps when you get ready to do so. _________________
