Hey, I'm having a dilemma. I've got just enough cash to buy either 2 RO pads or 1 CF pad with expensive shipping. I've already got one MyMyBox v2, so I don't know whether I should just get a CF to add to it or if I should get rid of my MMBv2 and get 2 new pads.
thx in advance _________________

I think it really depends on how hardcore you play... If you play anywheres from 4-8 hours a day then i would buy the CF but if you only play like once or twice a week i would buy the two RO. The only problem with the RO is they dont have a warenty and if they break (wich they do faster than the CF) then u r screwed. _________________

Please explain how a hard pad made of decent quality can break.
1) The arrows are completely replaceable.
2) With the sheet metal mod, you avoid the risk of damaging/ruining the copper contact plate.
3) The foam is replaceable.
4) Wiring is replaceable.
5) The control box is replaceable.
...
If a metal pad breaks, I don't care what kind it is - everything is fixable. Period.
BTW I'd get 2 RO metal pads instead of 1 single CF especially if you play doubles, want to learn doubles, or have friends who will play with you. I've got a BNS metal pad, I plan on buying a 2nd, the thing rocks. $139 buynshop.com same as the RO pad; if you don't care about generic products, save $30 bucks. _________________

You make me cry! I wanted to say that! The beauty of the metal pads is you can fix them, on the cheap. Just make sure you don't get a pad with the acrylic arrows, they tend to break more often. _________________

I don't see what the big deal is with Red Octane metal pads. IMO if you just get another MyMyBox and replace the acryllic with Lexan, it's nearly as good as a Red Octane, if not identical.
I've also found that building a dance pad is fun, if you have the right tools and aren't extremely bad with power tools/measuring. |

I disagree.
MyMyBox pads not only have crap-ee plastic lucite arrows, but they also have the stubby rubber pegs on the bottom (meaning to play them on carpet without them bowing/bending in the middle, you have to put them on something hard, ie a piece of wood) and no frame around the pad, which is less support on top of the other two issues. Plus they're thinner and also noisy. _________________
