Hello everyone!
I know you arent supposed to have an introduction thread but I had some questions and figured why not introduce myself while asking them.
I'm new to this forum and DDR, I've been readin here for about a week or 2 now, and I started DDR on christmas when I got DDRMAX 2 as a gift, and some pads. I now have a metal pad and a redoctane ignition is on its way. I'm 15 and I live in new york, I go to TimeOut in the greece mall to play, but mostly I just play at home. I'm ok so far, I can get A's on alot of heavy songs, B's on some 9 footers like Paranoia KCET and such.....I love this game so far. gives me excercise too.....I hope I dont lose weight, Im already 120 pounds as is, heheh.
Ok, now that thats out of the way....I see people talking about PA alot, what does that mean?
Another thing - my 8 year old brother can A most songs on light mode and im trying to get him to start playing standard. Is he like, a prodigy, or are there alot of kids his age who are way better or play the game just as much? Cause usually, when I go to the arcade they are all 18, 19 year old guys playing it, and I feel really young. I'm gonna bring him there and see if it amazes people. |

It seems pretty normal to me. I have seen (on many occasions, mind you) kids that look as though they are about 8 or 9 years of age, and they are playing Breakdown on Heavy. I'll be all like, "Damn, kid, you're good. How long have you been playing?" He'll say, "About 3 months, now." It seems that these kids are picking up all of their timing and rhythm skills a whole lot earlier than most people nowadays.
(Who says that DDR doesn't play a hand in the Gene Pool?) _________________

Hehe, hes playing right now, and I noticed the same thing. Hes learning almost as fast as I did, mind you, hes 8, so hes almost half my age. I'm gonna keep encouraging him and help him learn as best as I can. I wanna take him to the arcade soon. |

yeah that is a accomplishment, but 8 year old a'ing most light songs isnt too rare. It IS somewhat uncommon, but its nothing new.
But yeah its cool, my 8 year old cousin can play some light songs, but isnt interested in DDR enough to keep progressing.. |

My 9 year old can A/AA almost anything on Standard mode, and he's starting to play Heavy mode now, and is passing the easier ones. I agree with what someone else said... younger kids seem to progress much faster... in other words, your brother will be kicking your butt before you know it |

It sounds like DDR is a lot like foreign languages in that you can pick it up quicker the younger you are. It sucks to learn a language when you're 15... Stupid French... Je n'aime pas francais. C'est tres stupide... Mais DDR est hyper-cool! _________________

I have a 10 year old friend who is close to passing PSMO Final. I call him "My Homie" just to be funny. He's freakin good. Do you know how depressing it is when you get out-PA'ed by a 5th grader . _________________
