converting a soft pad to a metal pad is silly
think about it
both your question and your project itself imply that you don't have a good enough understanding to set off on your own like that. stick to the tutorials and guides |

It could be done, but you have to make your own PCB to convert the X,O,/\ and [] buttons to <V^> arrows. Very hard! I think you may want to instead, make all those buttons on one metal pad, but the X button can be the < and ^ at the same time! Kinda like a cheat pad! |

You should buy DDR if you want Konami to make more songs. So, really, you should be interested in a pad that works as Two PS2 controllers, to keep it compatible with your purchased versions. _________________

here's your "guide"
step 1. make 2 metal pads
step 2. wire 1st pad to arrow buttons
step 3. wire 2nd pad to shape buttons
couldn't YOU have figured that out? |

you cut the old pad off, duh.
and then you solder to the contacts of the shape buttons. Just like you do with the arrows. Please use your brain. |
