|

Ok, to begin with, weekly at Science Hill High School, we have Anime Club, the highlight of my week. Sometimes, my friend Rob or I bring in our soft pads and let everyone have a raucous good time playing DDR. We've been seriously thinking about getting together the best DDR'ers amongst us and starting a club simply for DDR. We need some hard pads and probably a PS2 because I don't like the thought of Rob bringing in his PS2 every week and risking its loss. That would be inconsiderate. A teacher has already volunteered using her room for this practice and teaching. My questions are as follows:
1: What kind of hard pads (on top of Rob's and my 4 soft pads) should we get?
2: What kind of fund-raiser should we hold for the games, PS2 and pads (I was thinking of selling little slave-made plastic things from magazines for outrageous prices)?
3: How often should it be held?
4: Who gets the pads after the club? Should they be taken home to prevent stealing? Should they be stored in the library's media closet, a locked room?
5: Would people come?
6: How to instruct (BIGGEST QUESTION)? _________________

That sounds like a really good idea. Try asking the school for the money for a hard pad. Store the pad in the library I guess. People would come if a lot of people like it. You're lucky you can do that. My school is way cheap. They wouldn't give us anything. _________________

Um, wait, i don't think you understand, my school is also "way cheap," that's why I put in the fund-raising thing in my list of questions. I guess we don't really need hard pads , but I would love to play on some not connected to an arcade machine. Plus, I'd have them at my own disposal at the club, as the organizer. How to raise funds.........how to raise funds.........how to raise funds? I DON'T KNOW!!!! _________________

Since you're going to have a bunch of people stomping on them for a long time, I'd suggest getting Cobalt Flux pads. You're going to want something that will last at least as long as the club.

Obviously a dance marathon!

Either once a week for two hours or twice a week for one hour. Twice a week would allow you to split the club up in case it suddenly got too big and not everybody could get their time in during a single session.

Well, if you get hard pads, I don't think anybody is going to want to lug them around. Store them somewhere on the campus. See if your club advisor has a closet she can store them in.

Get the music going and I'm sure people will show up. Most of all, though, when new people show up, don't intimidate them with 8-9 foot Heavy stuff.

Use the Beginner mode, or have somebody with experience go through the basics while telling everybody "watch my feet". And of course, share the secret of DDR progression with them - Never Put Your Feet Back In The Middle. Most of all, though, just let people get on the pad and try it out. Watch them and see where they might need help in rhythm or technique. Be ultra-patient with n00bs. _________________

Dude, a tourney! Duh! I should have thought of that! That's a great idea! We could hold it at my arcade or even somewhere on my school's campus. Where do I buy cheap CB pads? I've heard of them, and I thought that they cost like $200 each. \/\/0\/\/, 50/\/\3 C0b417 F1ux35 \/\/0u1D b3 ub3r1337!!! _________________

Ok, the preliminary meeting is set for one month from my writing this.
2 Questions, guys:
1. How much do CB's weigh? That BNS pad weighs 35lb. That's a lot to lug from the library to the room it's to be held in.
2. Do CB's or the BNS pad need external power units? To have them light up the way they do, I'd imagine so. If not, that's awesome.
WOW, thanks, Sinistar, that BNS pad is probably the way I'll go if the shipping isn't exorbitant. Misaki's Midnight Blaze, I'm a big fan of your posts; thanks with the help with the pads, everybody! This project is really rolling along.
EDIT: But the shipping is exorbitant. On a $140 pad, $72 shipping!!!
Where do I actually buy CB's? Know where I could get discount shipping on either pad? _________________
