Sorry if this is the wrong forum for this, but I was unsure where to ask. Anyway, I recently got DDR for the PC, and everything seemed to install correctly, but when I try to play DDR, the dance pad doesn't work as it should. When I step on the left arrow, the right arrow doesn't work, and when I step on the down arrow, the up doesn't work. This causes a big problem for the simultaneous steps. The same goes for player 2's side. Also, another thing I noticed is that when I step on an arrow, it registers as a quick step whether or not I hold my foot on the arrow. I seriously doubt the dance pads are at fault. My guess is there is a problem with the dual PSX to USB adapter (the triangular-shaped one).
There's also an issue with the pad configuration. I decided to click on the arrows I wanted to program, and then step on the corresponding arrow on the dance pad, and it gave me different values for p1 and p2. P1's side had all numerical values and the controls worked perfectly after that (until I restarted the computer) but the p2 side still gave the usual X-, X+, Y-, and Y+ buttons that constantly gave me trouble. Can someone please help me with this? The whole thing is making me wish I had a PS2. |

Simulator's might have something for you.
It sounds like to me that your dance pad converter is the type we all dread.
Buttons should NOT correspond to X+- and Y+-. They should register as individual buttons.
Reason being, you can't press X+ and X- at the same time. You can however press button 3 and button 4 (<-- totally made up numbers ) at the same time.
Search through simulators first for adapter help. And come back here if you have any more issues that simulators doesn't have an answer for. _________________

I e-mailed the company that the game was purchased through, and they gave me some special instructions after the install (I wish I would have known sooner). I has to hold start, select, and up on both pads for 3 seconds after the install for the pad to register correctly. It works fine now. The converter also works great because I tried a normal PS2 controller while playing other computer games and it worked perfectly. Thanx for the help though, I really appreciate it. |
