I've had an idea to build a lighting array that is a little similar to the lighting on the speakers on a DDR arcade machine.

All it really would be is a box that you plug your RCA audio cables into, then another set of cables from the box to the TV - it's a pass-through. A low-pass filter (I think that's what I need) would trigger an LED array to strobe to the beat. A pretty big LED array, very bright as well. The LED array might be circular like the arcade light, or in bar that would fit on the sides of a television.

I'm guessing I could design one of these for somewhere between $30 and $50, plus I might be able to do the LED arrays in multiple colors, including ultraviolet (for extra cost.)

Would anyone be willing to buy this?

I would have to say yes.

I would never blind rush into buying it, so it would help that you have videos, and such, but if it sounds as good as you mention, and have the proof to back it up. For that price, hell yeah.

It may take me some time. I need to have an LED driver circuit, and figure out how to do the low-pass filter and triggering, so that it fires on the -BOOM- -BOOM- -BOOM- of the bass beat. I'm thinking of using a capacitor, once the capacitor hits a certain voltage level it will discharge and pulse the array.

I might have a prototype in a few weeks.

Cool. I've been looking at some schematics. Gonna have a dual Bandpass filter, one for left and one for the right channel. Use that to get the really bassy-stuff filtered, the bass will trigger the LED strobe.

I'm in on this!

By the way, could you do something like every beat it flashes a different color? That would be cool, but it might be a lot of work.
