I was just sitting down and reading my new issue of EGM that had came in the mail today, and I saw something so absolutely shocking.

Before I get to that...let's rewind back a little ways...Do you remember that poll where you could vote as many times as you liked for the game (series) you thought had the most impact of this console generation?

Well...I seem to remember all of us (well many of us) voting many times and even Jdogg wrote a program where we could vote fast without having to go to the webpage. I also seem to remember a race against the "Halo" people for #1 (we had more votes then they did at the end from the stats it seemed) (even though Halo isn't a series [yet] there is only one).

Anyways....back to now. I open up the page and see a DDR character, so I flip towards the front and you know what game I see? frick ZELDA. I'll admit Zelda was good and all, but of this console generation? Wait...that's irrelevant. I seem to remember us VOTING OUR ASSES OFF FOR DDR. #2 Game? Halo. #3? The Sims. WHERE IS DDR?

Last. frick 15th.

Can we say someone switched around 15th and 1st place?

Hmm?

Doesn't this seem a little odd to you guys too? disgust.gif

Uhh yeah...Let's discuss.

The statistics showed WE we ahead of Halo at the end of the voting. And I don't think there are forums voting their asses off for: NBA Street (13),WWE Smackdown/ Def Jam Vendetta (12), or theMadden Series(9).

ALL of which ranked higher then DDR which got the lowest spot, 15.

Where is Halo if they voted the night away? Maybe MTV realized that there was more than one vote per IP address and decided to take away the "voting more than once" option.

Or maybe they're SMARTER than you think they are and didn't allow voting programs and the like.

Uhh Jeff, I am too lazy myself to dig through topics to find the topic about this and the link, but the people on the Halo board were the ones who ORIGINALLY started using programs to autovote (Jdogg just wrote a better and faster one, and we had more people running them so we caught up) so we weren't the only board doing it.

No, that's not what I mean. Tell me, where is Halo on the top 15? I know that they, along with other game communities, used these auto-vote programs. Maybe those votes weren't counted all across the board. But that's why I want to know. Maybe they were with Halo and not with DDR.

Actually, the entire thing was pretty shady.

This is my understanding of what happened:

JDogg wrote a program, so did the Halo people. Ours was somehow stopped, and I believe the Halo one wasn't. So JDogg wrote another one. Then the polls stopped and so ours stopped. Then they reopened the polls. Then closed them. But the Halo program still worked.

Either way, who really cares? DDR is not as mainstream as Halo (or many other games) and so you can't expect it to get the number of votes to get #1 even in a fair voting process.

While I agree that DDR should have been higher than #15 (just opinion) I was more outraged that Final Fantasy was only #4. Some punk game like Halo gets more credit with one title than a best-selling series that is unquestionably better than even Zelda. But as far as DDR goes, voting more than once really negates the purpose of a poll because the method that was used didn't show which game was more popular, it only showed which game had the craziest fans who were better at cheating.

Halo was #2 Jeff.

How was ours somehow stopped?

Bleh, it's still outrage that Madden Football, The wresting game, and NBA Street got higher than DDR for making an impact.

An understatement. I turned it on (mostly to be annoyed) and found some idiot rap singer yelling, "BEST GAME TITLE BASED ON A MOVIE LISCENSE..." *drumroll* "ENTER THE MATRIX!" *ETM logo lights up on floor screen surrounded with cheerleaders. Skip to some crappy pop band playing with game footage in the background*

Do you realize that being #15 still means it beats out however many thousands of games that weren't nominated?

I think the thing was run by both EGM and MTV.
