|
|
it took 2 and a half weeks after i ordered to acually recieve the pad. one week to build it, then about 3 days to ship it, then about a week to recieve it from fed ex
Shipping
the control boxes were shipped in an padded envelope with the packet and information about the pad, and also along with the grip tape that you put on the bottom of the pad.
the doubles bar was shipped in a padded tube.
the acuall pad was shipped in a huge box, covered with styrofoam on all the sides. top, bottom, left, right. after you took it out of the box it had protective plastic on the lexan which you had to remove.
everything was in perfect condition, fedex took good care of my package.
Pad Setup
the cobalt flux pad is set up like the arcade in a way. with the doubles bar it's the exact distance between the pads at the arcades and the acual size of the cobalt flux is like an arcade pad. the difference is that the pad is flat, so it will take a few songs to get used to it.
the pad has 6 buttons to it, the 4 standard buttons, start & select (which acaully acts as a triangle button so you don't accidently reset), and the two diagonal arrows which are x and o.
all the electronics are housed in a control box so if somethings wrong then you can blame it on the control box and get a new one or replacement.
Sensitivity
the sensitivity of this pad is amazing. i sat on the middle panel and played with my hands, that's how sensitive the pad is, you could just put the slightest amount of pressure on it and it'll sense it.
Durability
for it's small size, 33.5 x 33.5, and at about 45 lbs this thing can handle a lot. on the website they have run over this thing with a suv and it still worked perfectly. i'm a little hesitant to run mine over =P
Slippage
after you put on the grip tape the pad doesn't move at all, not even on my carpet. although i heard if the carpet is really thick then it will slip but my carpet isn't very thick where i play
Control Box
the control boxes are about 2 feet away from the pad, and about 2 more feed from the ps2. this is where all the electronics are houses so if the arrows are flairing all over the place, it's usually the control box
Arrows
my arrows are a little rippled, but after a little of play it will will where out. anyway in cold weather the glue contracts and sometimes causes ripples, but the ripples straighten themselves out after a little while.
the lexan on top of the arrows just bends a little down to trigger the arrows.
Doubles Mode
if you have 2 pads then you could link them together witht he doubles bar, which is the exact distance as in the arcades
Price
the pads alone are about 300 bucks each, and doubles bar is 25 bucks.. then if you need another control box they're 25 bucks each. shipping depends where you live, from salt lake city to chicago was 88 bucks for doubles.
once i can find a host that gives me more then 1 mb of space, i'll post a bunch of pictures, if anyone knows a host plz pm me or post the website so i can get some pictures up for you guys.
anyway it's well worth the price

How about some of the grip tape and the pad at different angles to show the flatness? |

Images linked, not in-line'd. Scrolling is a bad thing kids.
That, and respect your bandwidth. _________________

Ya know, we all sorta know that CF's are good. We don't need every person that owns one to tell us such things. Even us Utahan's know they are good. Hell almost all of us have played on them since they are made here and we know the owners. Free shipping too. My point....CF's are good, we all know they are, its old news. Personally I like my homemade pad better because it is official arcade size and well, I know it inside and out. _________________
