StepMania song editing.

I guess this rpetty mcuh applies to any version od DDR or DDR Sim for me. I'd like to edit my own moves, but I cannot stand trying to guesstimate when and where to put in the arrows during each dance and hoping that they'll be in synch with the beat of the song I'm editing for. Is there I way that I can play the song and enter in the moves on the fly at the same time? Or am I doomed to never make any of my own moves to my music for a lack of patience? I can never see myself listening to the same song 20+ times to make sure all the moves are in synch, and having to listen to the first 3 minutes of a song to wait and see if a move down the road is in tune, then finding out it's not, then listening to the 3 minutes again to check it again, and it's not, and doing it all over again. I don't have the patience or time. Is there a way to enter in the moves adn record them while the song is playing at the same time?

Try the edit mode in the main menu....works like a charm!
