Pad and adapter advice

Have gone through many different sites and looked at alot of information on forums..my conclusion for my best outcome I believe is as follows: Please advise if I am incorrect or suggestions - Please and Thank you

2 kids, 1 computer, 2 free USB ports, Stepmania (final 3.0) up and running with about 53 songs at the moment.

Questions or Suggestions

1. Order from www.levelsix.com NOT eBay

2. Looking at (2 pads) Deluxe DDR Dance Mat V2.0 (I take it that these are equivalent to the Ignition pad? )

3. Looking at (1) EMS USB adapter (what is the differeance in what I have seen on the boards - the EMS USB2 - or does this mean two connectors)

-Any problems forseen with the hookups that I have listed?
-If I have two pads I can have one kid vs. other kid?
-Should I still modify the pads so they can last longer? (Computer room is carpet)
