This is Long but please bear with me I tried to provide every little detail so I could make it easier for you to help with my problem:

When I hook the RedOctane Super Dual Box adaptor into the USB Slot I here a sound but nothing shows up. When I plugged it in before it said Found New Hardware-HID , or USB Device something like that. It saids on the box that it came with that it's Plug and Play. However I've plugged it in and it won't play with Delight Delight Reproductions (DDR Sim) or Step Mania. I think that's because I haven't told it which kind of pad I have. So I go to Control Panel then Game Controllers which is in Windows XP that I'm using. So I click on Add a Game Controller and pick one-there are so many I don't know which one to pick so I tried 6 button gamepad and here's the error message that pops up:

Error:Missing Gameport or Gameport Drivers! Your Gameport or Gameport drivers are not properly configured. Please consult the Device Manager.

So I go to Device Manager on the computer and Look up the heading USB Controllers, I also go under the heading Human Interface Devices because that's what popped up on my screen when I plugged in the adaptor and I find out the driver that my computer is using is: DirectX 5.1.2600.0 put into the computer on 7/1/2001 which is when my computer was manufactured. So I've concluded that my Driver must be outdated since I know Microsoft is now making DirectX 9.0. In the same area I find a button that says Driver Details that just tells where the Driver Files are located: C:/WINDOWS/system32/drivers/usbd.sys. I see another button that says update Driver. So I click it because I need to update my driver and it says if your hardware came with an installtion floppy disk insert it now. So I insert the disk. It searches the floppy and the computer concludes on its own this:The Wizard could not find a better match for your hardware than you already have installed. This makes me mad: MY DRIVER IS NOT BEING RECONGIZED BY SUPER DUAL BOX SO HOW CAN IT SAY THAT. Ok so I say to myself: The Drivers on the disk must be too old to comply with Windows XP or they must not be as good as DirectX 5.whatever. So I deciced to take a look at the other screen and there is a roll back driver button-I don't need to roll it back- it's a feature so that if your newly updated driver fails you can go back to the old one but HECK I CAN'T EVEN SEEM TO GET A UPDATED DRIVER IN. So the very last button says Uninstall Driver. Seems like I am getting somewhere so I click on it and it lets me go all the way through and even start my computer so the changes will take effect and I go back into the Device Manager to see if it was uninstalled and low and behold IT'S STILL THERE UGH.....!!!!! frown.gif . I don't know how to get rid of the Direct X 5 driver and install a the new one from there website. Actually I tried installing the new one and it took an hour and it didn't remove the old one I don't know what to do I am at my ropes end someone please help!!!!!

just because the drivers are using directx 5 doesn't mean they're not working with your DX9. I think it's fine.

But did you hold select, start and up like the redoctane page TOLD YOU TO?

Yes I went under Game Controls and Properties and Tested the Super Dual Box- Meaning as soon as I got to the window I held up, start and select down for three seconds and It worked. The Buttons mapped and I can press on two at the same time. It worked beautifully that's why I don't want to get rid of it but what is not working is what makes me mad- I won't play on Delight Delight Reproductions (DDR SIM) or StepMania because even though it lets me test the buttons and they map correctly the stupid Game controller screen won't let me add the game controller-It keeps telling me that my Gameport or Gameport drivers are not properly configured so it won't let me add a controller.

I didn't know excatly what the problem was before but now I know and this newer post describes it better you are the maintainer right? You can delete the older post and keep this newer one. If anyone knows anyway that I can fix the problem.... any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I am very discouraged right now-This whole thing the pads and the adaptor is a christmas gift and I don't want to have to take the adaptor back. Someone please actually read this and help me.
