So, um like omg, last Tuesday this game came out for PS2! For those of you who don't know what it is, it's Space Channel 5 and Space Channel 5 Part 2 ported onto PS2! And man, was it worth the wait for Part 2.
Part 2 has everything from the first one, but builds on in. Better music, better characters (Pine rocks), better graphics, and new gameplay! There are now lyric sections, which is just the enemy will sing something and then say a button pattern to press (Ex- We are known is the Rhythm Rogues CHU), and then Ulala sings back and you need to press CHU once she is done singing. It's pretty hard to get the timing down, but it's a really cool addition to it (Stage 2 boss... awesome).
There are also instrument battles in the game! So far, I've only done a guitar battle with Pudding and a drum battle with Pine, but I know there is also a keyboard battle in the game somewhere. Instrument battles are pretty much the same as normal battles, but it goes by very fast (especially against Pudding, whoo). All you need to play the instruments is one button, so it's nothing overly complicated. And it sounds awesome.
Also, the lag from SC5 is GONE! No more missed buttons, unless it was on your own part, and no more yelling at the TV saying you hit that damn button. Oh it's wonderful, simply wonderful.
The game is only $30, but if you got EB Games, you can get it for $15 NEW Get it now! _________________

I think those were nearly my exact words when I opened shipment that day, too. When it dropped in price to 20 bucks the next day, I couldn't help but buy it. _________________

Anyone tried this with the DDR Dance Pad? Its possible, but very difficult. I only got up to the first boss with the dance pad. Also, if you are using Konami Pad, you may need to switch to control pad between levels, since you need the Triangle button to save.
Ignition Pads do have a Triangle button, but are too sensitive and stepping in the center might hit a button. _________________

The game auto saves... at least for me. I can't turn it off, but then again, I've only played Part 2, so maybe SC5's saving is different on PS2. _________________

Thanx, Purge, for pointing out the release of this game. I gave up hope on a US version of Part 2 long ago when the Sega Dreamcast died. I got it immediately after reading your post, and still can't believe it's only $15 (the store clerk was just as shocked as I was when I first read this thread)! I would have preferred an Xbox version that was in Dolby Digital, but this was too good to pass up. Now, if I could only find time to play it... |

I loved the first Space Channel 5, and the second one just blew me away. I'm up to 99% somewhat consistently on the first stage, but I just can't seem to get that last secret move (supposed to be when Ulala says "space" in "Space Channel 5").
How's the timing on that secret go? Do you hold down a button through her saying "space?" I know what the character descriptions say, but I just can't get it. (Only played for two days, though, so I may just need a bit more practice.)
The stomp/clap dance during the first boss fight is very cool, and I love the idea of the robot whose moves you follow based on images on in the circles, rather than what he says (damn hard, though). |

Yes, Yes it does! I also thought the polka dot room near the end was great |
